My room doesn't have insulation. My apartment doesn't have heat.

Besides, water comes from outside, so the better question is how does it not freeze out there. The answer is that people dissolve certain substrates in the water supply to take advantage of colligative properties: freezing point depression. The freezing point of a fluid decreases when more stuff is dissolved in it.

Because I don't feel like it due to the fact that it's not a problem. I don't want people up in my room for hours trying to fix it. I can manage.

But I thought you were from South America?  I would expect you to be more at home in the heat than in the cold.

That is a geographical stereotype. For example, Argentina is really south, which is basically the same as being really north. Southern Argentina gets cold! Also, being on the equator, Ecuador has sort of a desert climate, especially in our winter: steamy hot in the day, cold at night.
