I've wasted a bit of time today trying to get the 'Overtone Analyzer' to run using Wine/WineBottler on my mac.  The app runs, but can't connect to the audio drivers.  Has anybody dealt with this, or have another freeware/demo analyzer that runs on mac?

I'd also like to know the answer. Tried several programs, but none worked well.

I should add, I'm not really interested in run Windows on the mac using bootcamp or parallels, etc.

Try praat, bit complicated at first but it does the job.

how do you use it?

looks like:

• in the praat objects window, select new -> Record mono Sound
• then hit record, then speak, then
• hit Save to List & close
• click on the recording in the objects area
• click view & edit

if your recording is longer than 10s, you will need to zoom in to see the spectral analysis, so click view -> zoom in until it appears

then you can click through and see what your hz are, and where the overtones are happening with your voice (resonance)

My speech therapist recommended WASP but I don't think they make it for Macs, so this was the closest I could find.

Yeah it is really interesting to SEE the difference in resonance as the larynx position changes. Having a great time noting the differences between my old and new voice.

Also just noticed that after almost 2 months of practicing I feel like I am finally getting somewhere. It's about freakin time.. haha. Still pretty hard to use it around people I have known, but I get more confident using the new voice every passing week. This tool will be invaluable!
