Hey everyone! I just started HRT today (Yay!) and my doctor prescribed me with Estradiol and Spironolactone.

He said he might increase or decrease the dose later depending on my body's reaction, but I'm worried how that might affect the cost. It already costs me about $100 a month, and I fund my transition on a really tight budget.  :-\
If my prescription were to double, would that double the price? Has anyone here ever had their dosage increased, and if so did it dramatically affect the price? Or is it the actual prescription that the cost consists of and not the actual pills?

I need feedback so I can help calculate how I might need to budget things in the near future.

Edited for dosages.

I assume you do not buy your meds with insurance?  When my dosage doubled my cost did not increase because it is an insurance copay.  If you are paying out of pocket, most likely the costs will double if the dose doubles...

The cost increase of out of pocket spiro is much more than estradiol. A good pharmacist should be able to work it out to reduce the cost to sub $50 a month.

I pay out of pocket and actually when my dosage increased the price really didn't change for me maybe $10 more, but  I do get a discount at Walgreens because of the clinic I go to
