Anyone here been able to take part in team sports, either in school or out?  On T or not?

For the last couple of weeks I've really felt the desire to be able to be part of a team again, but there are no teams apart from mens football (soccer) at my college, and I'm neither out, or played football since I was about 12, and I don't think I got more than two touches of the ball then as most of the team was made up of 18 year old lads.  One of my plans for the summer is to get my girlfriend to teach me how to kick a ball so I don't look stupid when I go to college as male next year.

I don't want to go into a female team and be the weird odd one out again, but I don't know whether it would work having me (5"2' and pre-T) on a male team, it definitely wouldn't be safe having me on a rugby pitch, my size meant that girls could easily send me flying despite me probably being stronger than most of them.

Has anyone joined a team again, and how did things work?  Were you only able to do it post-T when you were more able to match the guys physically?

Are there any coed sports that interest you?

I was on a marathon team in college, and we ran and trained as one happy family, and ran the same races (public foot races). I know when I lived in the UK (a long time ago) there were town running clubs, but the focus was more on the social aspect and less on competition.

I'm still preT but I would love to join a running group again. I was pretty fast as a female so I think as a male I'd at least be...somewhat decent, maybe even mid-pack with the aid of T. But since there's such a broad spectrum of running ability with any sex...I'm sure I'd fit right in and have a blast doing it.

Of course this is a terrible suggestion if you don't like to run  :D

I'm 5'3" and 120 lbs and was the hardest hitter on my rugby team. Great sport :)

I only ever got to play one match because all the girls at my school got injured and quit the team because they were scared, and the club I was part of wouldn't allow contact between under 18s and over 18s and that was the only one I could feasibly get to.  I think going up against guys would be suicidal at the moment...

The only mixed sport that I like really is archery, and I'm not up for paying £30+ for over an hours train ride to the nearest club every week or so.  Both the sports I really like are hockey and rugby, and neither of them seem too trans friendly if you know what I mean.  There is a local-ish hockey club that does mixed matches occasionally, but the teams are built from the male and female teams, so I'd still have to train with one or the other.

I've never heard of a town running club and I'm not a very good runner.  I enjoy it when I can because for about a year I could barely walk because of a bizarre hip problem no one could diagnose, but that comes back every so often and I shuffle around in fear of landing myself on crutches again because I have no idea what the triggers are.  If you enjoy it and can I'd say find a club and go for it!

I wasn't out as trans or being stealth as male, so I was a "girl" on the men's wrestling team back in tenth grade. It didn't last long, they made sure that I knew I wasn't wanted. (only one guys was happy to have me on the team and he was really excited during sign-ups, but unfortunately he wasn't there at the beginning of the season since it overlapped with football season so he was finishing up with football, otherwise I am sure he would've been supportive).

I think you could find a team or club that wouldn't be hard on you being a "girl" on their team or that you could join when you go stealth. You just have to be aware of the culture of that team and be prepared to either stand your ground or know when it's best just to cut your losses and bow out (which is what I did with wrestling).

BTW, is there a roller derby club nearby? I think roller derby looks like a lot of fun, and I wish there was one closer to me, they even have men's teams now.
