"Did you used to come here?  There was another tall blond woman who used to come here and you look just like her." the facilitator of the writing group I've started to go to said to me.  I sat in my chair looking at her and blinked my eyes a few times, dumbfounded.  I'm just knocking on the door of being full time two months, only been on a meaningful dose of HRT about a month and I bounce around every day of my life figuring I'm being clocked everywhere I go.  To be confused for a, I assume, tall blond ciswoman--

"No," I managed to say.  I might have added, "I've only been coming a month" but I can't recall for sure if I added that or not.  I was just so stunned.  In a good way, but stunned all the same.  I mean we read our stories aloud and my voice, especially today, is on the rough side!

Anyway, thought this was a nice story so I just wanted to share! :)

That is a nice story. Congrats. I got ma'amed the other day then I opened my mouth. Only been on HRT for a week or so too. My skin is already softer. No other changes. I also had on slight makeup so...but Will never be a big makeup girl. May ask what kind of writing group it is, i.e. fiction, non-fiction, biography, poetry, etc? I'm a professional writer and a wanna-be novelist and screenwriter.

I guess the best way to describe it is very stream of consciousness.  Why they do is, first a time is picked ranging from three to 10 minutes.  Then we get a prompt of what to write about.  Once time's up we get a chance to read what we wrote.  I ended up writing a story today that was a take off on Smokey and the Bandit, only running Butter instead of Coors.  Prompt was Illegal Butter Running.

When I was a kid I was an aspiring author, even finished a novel.  Never published.  I'd like to tell the story again cause I still believe in it and now I have life experience to inform the characters, then maybe self publish.  But if I don't I don't.  Point this time is to have fun because before when I wrote I was running away from myself.

That's awesome! I actually got called ma'am the other week I thought she was talking too the lady in line behind me. But she was talking too me.I believe she was more than likely just being nice too me but it did make my day.

Being "ma'amd" or "missed" is indeed a good feeling. :)

I keep thinking what happened is a great change from where I came from.  I used to get, "You look like John Lennon!" all the time.
