does wearing a bra hinder breast development

So I have been wondering, as I started to wear bras about two weeks ago, is it possible that the support or compression from a bra would hinder breast development? Just curious.

It seems like the girls were growing a lot faster before I started wearing bras, but I think it's mainly just to do with the timeline of HRT and that I am past that initial growth phase (I'm at 3 months HRT)

What do you think?

Ok I should have googled before posting this because now I'm kind of laughing at myself, but I'm still curious to know what you think

No. :) If it did, there'd be no market for training bras, and most cis girls/women would have had issues. (*Binding* can harm breast development, but that is far more compressive than any marginally fitting bra should be - and at the initial stages of growth, I would think the pain of compression would let you know if you were wearing a bra that fit THAT poorly.)

Breasts can take 3-5 years or longer to finish development, too; personally, I didn't hit the end of the growth phase until about 10 years later.

Hi Jennygirl;

Actually wearing a good fitting bra is actually good for growing and maturing breasts as especially if it is underwired will help to support the breasts and provide good shape. (dont just buy one of the Net - go to a corsetiere or favourite lingerie shop and get a proper fitment. Swimming to helps to strengthen the breasts . Try to swim at least 3 times a day. As your breasts grow you will find you get nicely perky breasts with a beautiful pear shape.

They just started to get that line underneath a few weeks ago looking like actual breasts, instead of the pointy nips I had for a month. Can't wait to see how they develop further :D

Thanks for the replies!

Nah, I really don't think that wearing a bra would change development whatsoever. In fact, and maybe this is because I'm just now entering that growth-spurt phase, but mine have actually been growing faster since I started wearing a bra 2 weeks ago.

In fact, if anything, bras should hypothetically give them better shape, because the support will help to keep them from sagging.

The myths regarding the 'necessity' of wearing a bra are legion, but this article highlights some interesting research and medical opinion debunking many of those myths, including some repeated in this thread. At the very least it's an interesting read and certainly food for thought. I highly recommend reading the rest of the site in addition to page in the following link:
