So, with the impending 4 days of summer in Minnesota, I am more excited, nervous, terrified and joyous at the thought of sitting on the beach as Stef. However, I don't really know what I should do about being at the beach. I am not much of a swimmer, more of a land based person, so I barely know how to swim.

What about my hair? I typically wear my hair long, but chemo in 2011 has slowed my ability to grow my hair out. That leaves one of ky wigs, but I worry about it getting wet!

I don't tan, I burn. I am so white, my skin has a pink tinge. Sun screens and sunblocks are like hieroglyphics to me. Why is this one 50 cents more? Spray or lotion? I usually grab banana boat because the name is whimsical to me.

Suits! I joke all the time about sitting on the beach in a two piece, sipping on a tom Collins, but I don't know if I am curvy enough for a two piece. But board shorts are too much like swim trunks, and I they're not really my jam. I love all things pink, sparkley, ruffley and girly!

I have a little bit of breasts going on, thanks to weighing in at 365 pounds a few years ago, but how effective are various inserts in the water? The last thing I need is to be laughing and splashing around and have my left boon float uncontrollably toward a group of kids.

Makeup at the beach? I don't look my best without makeup, but wearing it at the beach seems a bit off. What ever is a girl to do?

Footwear is another concern. I wasn't blessed with angelic feet, and believe me, I was crestfallen to discover so. I keep my toes painted, but I worry about their femininity at the beach. Because in my mind, everyone looks at everyone's feet at the beach.

Any tips you can give a confused land oriented girl? Note! I thought for literally a half hour about digging up the other swimsuit thread. But a visit to the FAQ thread led me this way. If it is unneeded, mods please merge it there! Thanks! xo

I'd say the four-day Minnesota summer deserves a thread of its own! Look at me, do you think I tan? Ha, like a lobster!

I am more like that "tan mom" who was in the news.  I step outside and I am instantly tan.

You love me and you know it.  That is what I get for being part French Mediterranean and Ojibwa.

Meanwhile, if someone takes a picture of me using a flash, I end up peeling!
