Hi my name is Andrew Millspaugh and I changed it to Andrea Millspaugh, but I was wondering if any one lives in the state of ca, IM trying to find a doctor that will give me woman hormones but my insurance will not pay for any thing like that or my  psychiatrist  dose not even want to here about it, and i cant change doctor because I have to have them or I can not see my psychiatrist, IM also bipolar and schizoid so that way i can not leave my psychiatrist, but I live in burn park ca and I was wondering if any one knows where i can get the hormones, because all the Dr. Want $350.00 for visit every and for the meds, I want to start right away to get this done IM a guy as you know by my name and i want to change to a girl, I know allot sofar going to the center OC but I just can not find a Dr. even if its in LA county or orange county, I don't mind going far to get this done but Anyways, my back ground with my family is ok with it but my dad dose not want any thing to do with me because that I want to change to a girl, but that ok because I really do not care about that much he was never a good dad Anyways, and my mother and father are diverse so I have not talked to him for a long time and I think I will never talk to him, every time I talk to him he brings me down and i get really depressed about it but hay that ok i just stopped talking to him all to gethere but i do need some help on where i can go to get the meds and start living the way I want. sorry this is so big but I just thought I would tell my story little. thanks.

Unfortunately we can not give you any help, we do not believe in Self Medication.  Your going to have to talk with your therapist and get a letter for Hormone Replacement Therapy.

Oh ok thanks for telling me.Thats what I though to.

Forum rules as was stated forbid us discussing hormones in specifics, but, you will find, the process of transition is a very complex subject and it takes a lot more than hormones to finish your journey.

My advice, get comfortable, check out the forums, read, read some more, keep on reading.

The most valuable thing I learned the first week of finding here, was how much I was not even aware of.

There's a mountain of great advice waiting for you all through the forums here.

Ok thanks, I do have a question, Is it true that you have to see your counselor for 1yr before you get on the hormones then stay on it for 2yrs, because I just started going to groups for transgender and iv been learning alot form there. This is kind of new to me I came out about 1yr and iv been talking to alot of people, so ya thats way IM here to get more info and just to learning more then what i know. thanks

I am not sure that there are any firm rules to any of the process, and considering how we are an international forum community, anything I say of specifics likely won't mean much to your own situation.

If tomorrow I resolved to transition all the way I think it would take me a year just sorting out the 'plan' let alone anything else.

So much to do after all.

Some food for thought.

If tomorrow you started the road to being the other 'you', do you have the right clothing? Do you have all the 'stuff' connected to being on the other side of the fence?

I'm for instance pleased as hell to have my first necklace and earrings. I've been amused to realize, hmm I think I need a jewellery box.

So many little details that slip by unrealized.

It's like a first apartment, so many little things you need, that are not obvious on day one.

Talking with shrinks, and HRT that is so obvious stuff, but, transitioning, it's a quite long list of things too.

The worst thing you can do to yourself is rush yourself. It's nice to be able to look at yourself in the mirror and say 'ok lets do it', but the most important thing to remember, is, this is no small thing.

Ya I got ride of all my man clothing and got all girls and every time I dress up I love my self even more where right now i look at my self and i can stand it it just makes me depression to see me as a man and IM really happy when i where woman clothing, And IM just saving up for everything I want to do I have a big list of stuff I have to do to, so thanks so much for the advice on doing everything slow because IM that kind of person that just wants to get everything done right there with out waiting, but YA I do have to do everything slow and get more info IM just glad IM here that way i can learn more and get it done when IM ready thanks
