So. I just started taking Biotin. I bought the $2 bottle from dollar general. It has the same ingredients in it. so it seems legit. Before hormones i had the best hair, it was all soft and everything but since ive been on T its rough n raggid and i hate it. ive tried different products. someone told me to try mayo but see i dont like greasy hair. I started taking Biotin because i heard great things. I'm part native and  i can't really grow that much facial hair, in fact i look just like my younger brother weird how genes turn out . i would love sideburns and to be able to shave weekely. does anyone know how much biotin i should take a day? so far i'm taking 2,000 icus once a day. don't know if that is even enough.

i can only grow a mexi stach and  a little hair on my chin

Hey, I take one a day and I have been for about 5 months.  It takes time but I saw improvements in my nails and hair about 2 months in.  So, give it time and only take the recommended dose unless you have consulted with a doc.  My hair has always been thick, I noticed that I was getting more of it, could be because of the T (7 months on T) but I think since taking the biotin it has help speed things up.  My hair feels different, but I have not noticed if it has been falling out.  I also have native american blood and I am hispanic, so I can't grow a whole lotta hair either but it seems like it is getting darker which makes me happy.

Good luck! Peace.. ;D

I agree with kkut, it's the T. My facial hair, head hair, body hair is longer/thicker/coarser. I feel like a chia pet.

I do know that you can buy some jojoba oil and add a teaspoon to a new bottle of shampoo to make your hair softer/shinier.

it's the T. I used to have lustrous asian hair, nice and striahgt and perfectly shining. Then puberty hit and I suddenly got curly course hair. hopefully it switches back just a smidge.

My hair got a little coarser at puberty anyway, but T will most likely give me the hair of my dad and his dad, the infamous "Jewfro". Which is why I'll do my best to keep it in check and hopefully settle around Robert Plant-ish if I'm lucky. I agree with kkut, shampoo contains surfactants as its goal is to remove some of the built-up oils in the scalp along with built-up dead skin and other particles of...stuff. But using too much and/or too high a shower temperature can strip the hair of more oil than you want, which causes some of that coarseness. Good luck, dude.

I'm using biotin, mainly for the hair and for it's qualities for improving skin and nails. I'm using it well above recommended doses, as there is no harm from overdose as it just doesn't get absorbed.

For hair it takes so long to see any results and I have been using it just for two months and I have a long hair, so I think that for my hair it takes a year or more to see the results.

However, I can definitely tell that the hair grow in rest of the body has increased significantly, which kind of sucks. But why I continue using it, is that my eyelashes have grown! Especially the lower eyelashes are now long ones and getting more thicker.
