Last year, I went to Mexico and spent a week at an orphanage, helping out with the children there. While there, I absolutely fell in love with a 9-year-old boy named Hector. He is an orphan and learning disabled, both of which make life incredibly difficult for him, but he has managed to become an amazing child regardless. My parents recently returned to the orphanage, and Hector is still there, 10 years old and precocious as ever. The orphanage doubts he will be adopted, due to both his age and disability. However, if I had the chance, I'd snatch him up in a second.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about adoption, particularly international adoption. I know adoptions from Mexico are often easier than those within the United States; however, my wife and I are both transsexuals, and I wonder if that could make things immensely more difficult. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
