I was curious if anyone has had any experience adopting after being post op.  I'm in my mid 20s, so its going to be like 4-5 years down the road, but still thinking a lot about it.  I'm worried about it, not that that I would be rejected, but if I would actually be any good at raising a child.  Especially a teenager lol.  Also very concern over whether to ever tell them about being trans.  Anyone who could share experiences of having kids/adopting when post op would be appreciated.

I think it is laudable that you would want to give a child a home.

There is nothing in transitioning that would make you any less of a parent.

Thanks I appreciate that!  I dunno, I worry though that if my child was gay or trans or whatever the case may be, would be really frustrating dealing with "Mom you don't understand what its like" and how I should handle that.  Guess it will really just depend on the kid and life though, can't plan for everything!

That part is the easiest thing to deal with.  By being supportive in every way and always standing for your child.  If a child comes out out as gay, trans or whatever, if they know you support them, they will always know they can turn to you.

I have noticed that with younger kids (pre-teen and below)  tend to see you for the role that you fill. Especially if they trust you and know that you will be good to them. That aside, "good" parenting is subjective and has nothing to do with being trans or not. Really you have to define what "good parenting is for yourself, uphold your own standards and hope that your kid will pick up what you have to offer.
