Hi everyone.
For the past couple of years I have been noticeing that my hair has started to recede in the front
and crown areas of my head.
Would like to know if I need a prescription for e.g,finasteride in Australia.
Any other natural remedies that has any good effects.
I have been takeing saw palmetto 3 caps a day and drinking 1ltre of soy milk for the past couple of weeks which i feel has lowered my sex drive slightly which is good.
Would spiro alone help with hair loss? if prescribed by a doc.
Im 31 bio male but female on the inside.

 Spiro would help, but it takes time as it has to halt testosterone production first, which would then reduce your DHT levels over time.

It's not the most efficient solution, but it works.

In Australia you need medical help and therapists to get on to HRT. Once on it successfully you would be able to be prescribed, Spiro, oestrogen and finasteride if you were healthy. But the HRT doses are adjusted over time with monitoring. This will of course lead to full hormonal feminisation and hence the need for therapists etc.

If your desire is purely to halt hair loss your GP should be able to prescribe finasteride.

Going onto Spiro is a totally different 'game' it will eventually chemically castrate you at the doses given for HRT.

I have heard that its more affective then fina.

Dutasteride "might" be better than finasteride, but scientific evidence of effectiveness and non-riskiness (yes, I decided this word exists) is limited, I think, so it's more tricky to get prescribed, I think.

As for natural products, shampoos, etc. ask a doctor or even a hair stylist.

Avodart aka Dutasteride is much more effective at blocking DHT action compared to Finasteride. Look in to it.

As you girls said avodart might be better but the doc said it would be way more expensive.
Im thinking of getting dutagen from inhousepharmacy online after I have finished with fina.
Is that the same as avodart?
What I would want as well is to decrease my sex drive.
Wonder if spiro would be good for this?

Also Jenx and A just wondering what the percentage fina has in blocking dht compared to duta.

Spiro will effectively remove most of your T driven sex drive over a period of time, remember a lot of sex drive is between the ears.

It's quite a difference. Dutasteride is about 90% effective at inhibiting type 2 5-alpha-reductase, compared to about 40% effectiveness of Finasteride... Don't quote me though. Also, Dutasteride blocks both type 1 & type 2 5-alpha-reductase. Finasteride does not inhibit type 1 at all. Dutasteride is an all around better med for treating MPB. In case you didn't know, 5-alpha-reductase is an enzyme that converts T to DHT, which is what causes hair loss. No DHT produced, no hair loss.

It should... But not always. Individual physiology, libido, metabolism will play a big part also. After 3 years of HRT, I was able to get and maintain an erection right up to the day of my SRS. Now it takes more effort.
