So I called to set up an appointment with an endo to talk about starting HRT but I was told I needed to be referred to him by a general physician. So i have my appointment set up for May 2nd and I'm super nervous. My future lays in the hands of someone that doesnt know me and I'm starting to think that I may not get referred.

Is this the only way? What happens if I dont get referred? Am I following the right steps here?
I know who I am, and no one is going to tell me otherwise anymore.

Setup an appointment with a Therapist, they will give you a letter referring you for HRT.  It will probably take a couple of months.

I've asked my therapist about that, but he says thats not how it works in Texas. I have to see a regular doctor to be referred unless I'm being steered wrong.

Are you going thru insurance or paying out of pocket?

If you are not going thru insurance... It should work as Sarah posted above. Go to therapist, wait for 3-6 months worth of visits, get HRT letter, take letter to doc to start hormones.

Otherwise, insurance companies make you follow different procedures sometimes.
