Been lost in the wormhole that is YouTube today and have noticed guys saying they were told to stop taking T a few weeks before top surgery. I haven't seen anyone give the reason why that is though. Anyone know exactly why they advise guys to do that?

What about guys who are post hysto before top? Surely they can't be expected to stop as it would leave them completely void of hormones for the weeks before surgery.

I been told to stop T a month before my surgery, I heard the reason to be something with the blood im not 100% sure.

something about it change abit when you take T and you in general would bleed more than with less T, something like that. but I dont remember in Details.

I was not told this and my surgery went fine.

I asked my doctor and he said one of the reasons is because increased demand on the heart when under anesthesia and how you could bleed a lot more because the heart works a bit harder once it becomes accustomed to the increased red blood cells.
With today's standards I don't see that being a problem. Many surgeons are turning to lasers to cauterize the blood vessels during surgery. It's definitely something to ask your doctor since lasers have proven to decrease healing time.

As for post-hysto I assume they could go on a lower dose than what they normally take.

Not sure but from what my endo told me I can't go without T. When time gets closer for top I'll post whatever they tell me as far as that goes.

I was never told to stop and I had next to no drainage or post-top surgery inflammation.

It was never brought up before my hysto a little over a week ago. But then, I'm on Nebido, so "stopping a couple of weeks before" wouldn't be possible anyways. I do have an increased rbc, but again, never mentioned as a problem. I had minimal bleeding and a speedy recovery (thus far, knock on wood).

As for stopping when being post hysto, I doubt the body would take much damage from being without a sex hormone for a limited time only.

As for my increased rbc, I had recently taken a shot when seeing my endo last, and he told me to add a couple of extra weeks between my shots because of the rbc. In my  mind I was  was like  "crap.. hope that doesn't trigger a period... D= "    ..and then a week later the hospital calls and say they have an opening and can do my hysto in another two weeks. I kinda felt like I should be playing the lottery then. XD

Went and got me a ticker, so everytime I post I'm reminded to put down whatever I was about to eat. >.>
