The andro is as you know, short for androgen. Unisex referred to what might be suitable for or designed for, either sex. As a synonym for androgen, in androgen person, it is clearly inaccurate.
The use of cis confused me for a while, but is based upon the notion of cis as same (or near side of). Coming from the Roman Latin cis-alpine, being the alps viewed from Rome. So cis-gender refers to those whose gender is the same as their appearance.
Personally, in most cases, I find it easier to go with the flow. cis is a bit easier to say that non-transgender.
But I do hate the Term brit. I'm a Briton, not a brit.
