I know what that's like.
It's never too late to look for something else. While the economy sucks and it's in fact tough out there, you can always find something else. That's what I am doing at the moment. If you feel that you don't have the experience, it is never too late to start an internship or do some volunteer work. Doing so can build up your resume and create some new connections for you. This might be a possibility for you because you are working part time at the moment. Also, even if you don't have the experience in the same field you are searching in, there are ways to utilize your current skills and match them with the job you are hunting for. I will say, that you might want to consider working full time and shifting your schedule around. One, you will have more money for everything you need. Two, jobs don't work around your schedule, you work around their's. I think that's something to take into consideration.
But, I can understand that you don't want to change too much for a job. My last job offer I had turned down because it required me to work the hours of 2 full time jobs, and then some. I've worked crazy hours before and can tell you how difficult it can be. So, don't take something like that, lol.
