When I'm sitting down studying, I randomly start touching my hair. Every time I do, 15-20 hairs fall out. If i simply run my hand through my hair, 2-3 hairs stick to my hand each time. Yesterday, I vigorously shook my hair and 40-50 hairs fell out onto my notebook. (Approximately of course). If i continued, more would fall. In the evening i tried again, this time gently rubbing my hair...same thing happened. Every day...
I think I definitely lose more than 150 hairs a day. I haven't yet even achieved a male hairline, its only starting to shape...im 6.5 months on T. Does everyones hair fall out when they shake/rub it? Should I just stop touching it and let it be?
I don't really see any bald spots anywhere yet,but I'm paranoid it got thinner. Should i be concerned yet and talk to my doctor? im really afraid each time 50 hairs or so fall out just by touching it.

I'm not sure how normal it is or not. I can only speak from my own experience, I'm right at five months and already have the "M" hairline. I do believe that area is where I am starting to recede. The only place I have noticed any hair loss has been in the bottom of the shower though.

I know others disagree (and that is fine) but to me it comes with the territory. If you're worried about hair loss you can always start Propecia/Finasteride. I probably would consider going on Propecia if it didn't stop body/facial hair and cause sexual side effects. What scared me away from it mostly is the possibility that it can shrink your genitals...um, no. Other than that I'm leery about introducing more meds to my body than need be.

I would suggest talking to your doctor the next time you see them. The choice to go on a medication to stop hair loss is of course a personal one. I would just suggest weighing the benefits with the risks and talking to other guys online (trans & cis) to see what experiences they've had on it before starting.

This just started happening to me a couple months ago. Hair was literally jumping off my head any time I touched it. It lasted for a while, then stopped again.

Talking things over with your doctor might be a good idea. Hair loss is normal throughout the course of daily life, though usually it's only noticeable when you take a shower and are vigorously scrubbing your scalp. Can't give you input on hair loss with T, but a transgirl friend of mine who is pre-HRT has been crying to me lately about losing tons of her hair when she touches it, like you were describing. I've noticed plenty of hair loss as well even being pre-T, due to whatever genetics my hairline has a bit of the masculine shape but it's not very prominent (especially with my haircut). But I digress. Hair loss is a part of life, we do need to shed old hair. If it's really concerning you, have a chat with your doc at the next visit.

Mine does that too and I recently got it cut, I don't see any signs of actual loss. I think we are just more inclined to notice it now because we have that concern, lol.

I did start losing hair quite rapidly, and I can say that my hair is thinner than it was, that I do have a very masculine hairline, and that I apparently have no actual baldness. I still lose quite a few hairs every other day. You'll have to keep a close watch on things.

If you are thinking about oral finasteride, let me share my experiences. I was on finasteride for about two years total. I was not ready to face balding at that point. Now that I"m off it, I can see that I did have quite a few side effects. For example, I was no longer getting erections...but I'm so small anyway that it didn't really matter. My orgasms weren't as intense, but they were much more intense than pre-T, so I didn't really notice until after I stopped the finasteride. And I definitely lost some libido, but that was a good thing. I'm back to having trouble controlling my urges again.

My facial and body hair were not completely inhibited, but I'm much happier with my beard now, six months after stopping F. On the other hand, I'm getting body hair in places I would rather not, like the backs of my arms and my back! But I'm also acquiring a fine spray on my chest, so that is welcome.

Finally, I have had an emotional effect. I have a much harder time crying than I did on finasteride. I wasn't expecting this. I mean, I had a hard time crying while I was on it, but I'm even worse now. But, oddly enough, I don't see any other emotional effects.

All in all, I'm glad I was on finasteride, but I'm a bit chagrined that I didn't see some of the effects until after I had stopped.

P.S. I started finasteride about sixteen or seventeen months in, and my voice was already in baritone range and went through a few more small drops while I was on F.
