I'm wondering if anyone else has belly fat problems!

I have been fairly thin the last 8 years...probably a little under weight before transition. I have not gained much since starting my transition only 3-5 pounds and still weigh proportion to height....but I have this belly!! I never had this early in my transition but I think it just wasn't noticeable since it was up higher. If I eat a lot or drink a lot I look like I'm pregnant!!

I have always been very active but decided to join a gym about 3 months ago...I have since gained some muscle above my stomach actually have almost visible abbs...but I still have this darn belly....Anyone have any ideas or experience getting rid of it!!

Yes, the fat all seemed to gravitate there!

Tightening the abs will help.  Try doing the yoga plank position several times per day.  Start off with short durations, and build up you time.

I'm pre treatment, so my body is (unfortunately) still female hormone controlled. One of the banes in my life has been the girly belly fat. It's definately not like a beer belly, or because I am fat (I have never been overweight in my life). It just seems girly anatomy. It is known that girls have more fat because they need to be ready to go through child birth. I think this little pocket of fat at the stomach is part of it and is the reason it is very hard to get a clear, showing sixpack as a woman. Only very, very skinny girls do not have it.

Sorry...one more biological female weighing in:

I've dealt with that darn tummy pooch since puberty. I've always been thin, BMI around 18, 19. I have wicked strong abs, but, as you describe, you can just barely see the muscle definition on them because of that little layer of belly fat. I mean there are some olympians and marathoners etc. who don't have it, but perhaps they have higher T levels than your average gal...or models who are ridiculously thin.

I guess I'm inclined to say it's a girl thing :)

Exercise is good advice... But so is diet. Carbs, dairy, sugar, processed food, beer, and lots soda will give you a gut no matter how much you work out. You need to follow a strict diet and exercise program to accomplish your goal. Hard... Yes. Impossible... No.

Yes this is the thing...I have about a 19 BMI but I think its all in my belly....some in the chest, but not enough!!

Thanks for you re input...I'm starting to think this is the case!

No soda or beer here....I do eat some bad carbs though and most of that is processed. I was thinking this same thing also. For awhile I did try to eat more bad carbs hoping it would go to butt and thighs...I think it went to my belly!!

I eat a fairly low fat diet though and sometimes only 1,000 calories....I just can't get rid of this fricken belly!!!

I tried to get rid of it too with exercise and a very healthy diet, but no such luck.

So....Yeah... Welcome to womanhood :P

I can't wait to get my manly hormones and finally work that stupid fat off. I'm going to laugh in its face on the day I start with hormones. Finally you shall meet your doom, fat! Muahahhahahaah!

Ahem. I did mention I hated it, right?

J know all about belly fat...mine isn't HRT related tho. I was rather skinny my entire life until diagnosed bipolar at 20 and was put on a trial run of mood stabilizers till we found one that worked. Sadly one of the side effects of those meds is weight gain and it is usually focused in the stomach area. I went from a size 5 to a size 12 because of them. And sadly its not a nice soft fat that shapewear can help with, its rock solid fat that makes me look pregnant regardless of what i do.

I love my tummy pouch! :) I'm skinny but have been steadily gaining weight these past 4 months. Was at 122 when I started HRT now I'm at about 139.

I started to notice the same thing after a year and a half on hormones. I've always been very thin for my size 5'10" 135 lbs. I think some of it is just normal water retention caused by hormones and then the rest is probably the thin layer of fat all women have and when we don't keep our core muscles tight and in shape there isn't any supporting structure under the fat so it makes it look like you have a belly. I just started running and doing core exercises again. I do 50 sit ups, 50 crunches, 50 v-ups, and then side planks for the obliques. Mine went away after 2 or 3 weeks of tightening my core up. :P

I have a little fat pad below my belly button that I didn't have before hrt. But it doesn't hang over my jeans or anything, just gives me a "softer" look there. I get plenty of exercise though and not really worried about it, I'm still slimmer than most women around here.

I have the slight pooch below the belly button but almost every female does, it part of looking female so I don't work much about it.
