I was wondering what kind of makeup do you use?

I have not experimented with makeup so I don't know what I like.  Do you like nail polish?  How do you feel when you apply it?

I once applied foundation and I loved it however when I applied mascara I didn't look too good.  Do you apply lipstick and eye shadow?

I wear nail polish, and I love how feminine it makes me look/feel. Especially because I'm androgynous strongly leaning female. But that's just me.

Stray MtF here, out of her section.

I'm by no means an expert, but I just feel like talking about makeup with you right now anyway. :) I have a bunch of stuff from local pharmacies and grocery stores. Places like Ulta / Sephora terrify me... haha.

Mascara is tough to apply properly! I still really suck at it. I use it verrrry sparingly, because if don't, I look like a total mess.

Foundation is the best if you can manage to match your skin tone. It totally hides the natural redness of my face, and the best part is, a lot of people can't even notice I'm wearing it... my skin just looks a million times more clear. I just have to make sure to use a little blush to counterbalance it.

I find lipstick irritating because it rubs off so easily... Lip gloss, however, is wonderfulllll! I find it stays on a little easier and looks better, anyway! Plus applying it is super fun. I'm sad I waited until I was in my 20s to switch over. Go buy some lip gloss like right now. Just go.

Thanks,

I applied pink nail polish after posting this and I liked it.  However it wasn't the wow factor I thought I would feel.  Why do people apply nail polish?  Where did the custom come from.

As for foundation I am worried about my acne but I will try to get something that is acne sensitive.  I have hazel eyes what color eye shadow best suits me?

I do it all :P except for nail polish, which everyone else here seems to love. xD

Sometimes I don't feel like doing a lot though, and on those days I just use foundation, eyeliner, eyeshadow and lipstick. That's kind of all you need to look dramatically better. But mascara, false lashes, circle lenses, things like that are fun to use too :P

The biggest concern there is to just make sure you remove it with some kind of makeup remover before you go to sleep. Also, I strongly recommend using blush alongside foundation, or else you'll probably look too pale. Also, test various foundations on your wrist to check the color in the store before you buy any. Make sure to rub it in. It can be tough to find a color that matches your skin tone enough to make it really work.

:D thanks Kyh.  My skin color is a little dark (middle eastern) so I will try to find someone who has a similar color. I asked because I applied blue metallic eye shadow and I felt that it doesn't go so well with my eyes.

Is all this talk superficial or it is good to put make up on?

I love make up and doing different eyes and nail art and stuff.

If ur struggling with mascara try the business card method.  Google it if you don't know it. I am sure you will find it,  if not PM me x

Kyh,

Thanks for the tips.  I will definitely try them.  I like the idea of brown or black.

Steph21,

You look gorgeous :D. I will check out the business card method.

I use to darken by eyebrown, and somethimes I use black eyeshadow or nail polish, black or gray.
it kinda depends on my mood how queer I feel like.

I like this kind of make up who make me feel alittle "jack sparrow" or alittle punk, but im too lazy to do it everyday and most of the time im pretty casual looking.

I dont use other kinds of make up unlike I am dressing up for something which I love.

Kyh and all,

I just tried black eye shadow and it looks AMMMAAAZINGGG!!  :D

Thanks for the advice.  Now I will have to build enough courage to wear it in public.

:D yay! If black eyeshadow looks good on you, you're really lucky because there are tons of different looks that use black eyeshadow as the main element. Like smokey eyes or "rocker chic" makeup. I look so bad with black eyeshadow xD Smokey eyes make me look like a zombie hahaha

I am worried about the zombie look but I haven't tried it.  Maybe I will like the gothic look.

I really liked to lightly apply it on the eyelids and I did not go underneath the brows.  When I have more time and my parents are not in the house I will try a more daring look.

Thanks  :D.

I don't really wear makeup... cause I'm AFAB so... it just makes me look more feminine than I already am, and I dislike that.

Sometimes I like funky colored lipstick tho. If I'm gonna wear it it's gonna be unnatural and bold, like blue, or firetruck red, or black, or lavender.

Also nailpolish is fun, but I work with my hands, so it's forever chipped on me.

The key to making makeup work is a trifecta - LOTS of practice, studying other women to find makeup styles that you like, AND figuring out what looks good on YOU. Just because something looks great on someone else doesn't mean that it will work for you.

For example, in my case black eyeliner gives me "cat eyes" but brown eyeliner applied on the lower lash line looks fine. Using a kohl brush works even better than an eyeliner pencil and gives me a more dramatic look but cleanup afterward takes FAR longer.

To answer the OPs question most of what i have has been purchased at the grocery and at local drug stores. I'm an older gal so less is more - I use powder for foundation, lip gloss, eyeliner, mascara, and some blush on my cheekbones, and lip gloss. I hate lipstick; it's so "mom".

I like to deconstruct some of the more extreme looks. If you can figure out how people like Anastasiya Shpagina can make their face look so totally different, then you can tone it down and apply in your own way.

I don't use much makeup, just mascara and lipstick

I purchase it from the body shop (mostly because it is high quality and very good for your health cheaper stuff can mess with your eyes and health)

I don't wear nail polish due to weak nails I used to wear fake nails and they messed them up

I don't wear foundation any more but when I did I figure out my color by checking out that I was a spring there is a color theory where you figure out your skin tones and everything

Thanks everyone for the advice.  I went out with makeup for the first time a couple of days ago!!  I didn't apply a lot of black eye shadow just a little that brought out the colors of my eyes and no one noticed.  They didn't however notice that my eyes are beautiful because they were accented.

Reedling, thanks for the suggestions.  I don't like to apply mascara because my eyelashes are already long so I feel that they become very articulated.  As for lipstick I think that it is the same thing.  I think that my lips are already quite red so adding something on makes them a little strong.  But I am open to suggestions for lipstick if there are alternatives.

If your color is really good on your lips sometimes a lip gloss is really nice and it adds a nice touch of femininity and class
