I've narrowed down my selection for GRS (MtF) to two choices: Dr. McGinn and Dr. Meltzer. Does anyone have any feedback on these doctors (based on recent results)? Which doctor would you recommend? Is there any websites with current before/afters?
I'm limited to picking a doctor in the USA since I'll be having my insurance cover the surgery (so Dr. Brassard or Dr. Suporn aren't options). Also, because my insurance will cover any GRS surgeon at the same rate to me, cost isn't a factor.
Based on my research so far, it seems Dr. Meltzer has more experience and (anecdotally) seems to give the "best looking" result. The downsides are he's very expensive, requires two surgeries, and (again anecdotally) his results are sometimes less orgasmic. I've also heard Dr. Meltzer's bedside manner is less "hand-holding", due to the large number of patients at his clinic, but the overall post-op care is quite good because of all the nurses checking in on you (and you're in a hospital the whole time).
And then there is Dr. McGinn. She has less experience, but I've heard lots of positive reviews for her online. Although the results seem to be more inconsistent. Some people love her, others say she didn't do a good job (sometimes related to complications). It seems fairly consistent that her results are more often orgasmic (due to leaving a much larger clitoris than other doctors)... so I guess that's a perk of having a trans doctor. But I've also heard mixed reports on her post-op care (some saying she didn't do enough).
