I have entered a stag I'm not used to. I'm getting free stuff from strangers. people wanting to pay for my stuff at gas station just sodas or whatever nothing big. Just in all the 30 years or so no one has afford to pay for anything. It has happened at least 4 times in the last month. what do you think?

Joanna Dark

Well guys have been giving me cigarettes without asking. That's nice. I know I'm bad but I really don't smoke much I just will if some one gives me one. But before people have paid for me lots of times both men and women. I had one girl spend 100s of dollars on me once. Well together. My other friend used to buy me stuff constantly. I of course would reciprocate. I've also had girls buy me drinks before. Never thought I was that good looking but whatevs! I'll take it.

Here's a great song all of you young gals might want to keep handy in your purses: Lorrie Morgan's hit, 'What Part of No Don't You Understand?'

When we walk to the edge of all the light we have and take the step into the darkness of the unknown, we must believe that one of two things will happen. There will be something solid for us to stand on or we will be taught to fly. — Patrick Overton

It's great I love free stuff. I kind of expect it from some guys like on dates

Nobody ever gives me anything unless I'm out on a date with them. Not that I care, though. IDK if I could just accept free stuff from strangers. I'd probably wonder if they want something in return from me tbh.
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.

Keep in mind, most guys don't have the most benevolent intentions when giving away free things or paying for things..  Dates are one thing, but randomly giving gifts to girls is another.  Usually, guys hope it's a way to meet a girl and peek her interest in him.  I've seen it before and have heard from enough men that they use this as a pick up line. It's like buying a drink.  It's a way to break the ice.  There's nothing wrong with accepting (or them offering) , but realize the guy is probably interested in you.

Times like these I always remember a shot passage out of Gene Wolfe's "The Shadow of the Torturer" (don't be too put off by the grim title, it's a good series):

Quote"I have a gift for you," Master Palaemon said. "Considering your youth and strength, I don't believe you will find it too heavy."
"I am deserving of no gifts."
"That is so. But you must recall, Severian, that when a gift is deserved, it is not a gift but a payment. The only true gifts are such as you now receive."

Sudden free stuff out of nowhere is rarely truly without intent, making it something that I am personally quite leery of, as the giver in essence is seeing it as a pre-payment of forms. That I do not have to react to it in such a way is clear, but it can increase the societal pressures not only on me, but also on the giver: potentially making them act in a way they think they are expected to, instead of like a decent human being. Then again, maybe I am simply too cynical at times.  >:-)

I need to put my mind in a certain place about this subject,

When I was a gender confused 12 year old stuck helplessly in boy mode a friends much older brother  would give me "gifts", model cars, bike accessories, rides in his nice car etc., my friend and I had a school project to do together so her parents invited me to spend the night so we could work on it....of course being a boy they said I could sleep in the guest room, long story short I woke up in the middle of the night with her brother doing things to me I won't discuss here.

Over the years I've had lots of well meaning guy friends offer to give me things just to be nice....it happens all the time! Of course you can guess where my thoughts go :(

Sorry for the long post, 45 years later its still a tough subject

I'm sorry. Some people will try to take things from you in return, they just feel like they own you and it's aloud.

True. Get a little, owe a lot sometimes.
