Love the old Disney cartoons. Have built up quite a nice collection of them.

Batman: The Animated Series FTW. Along with The Tick!...and Eek the Cat. Gargoyles belong here too.

I was never too keen on Nick toons, with the exception of Aaah! Real Monsters.

Originally this was just a reply to someone else's topic about cartoons, but now for some reason it sprouted legs and went out on its own, making it look like I started it? What the heck is going on here?

Lol, the funny thing is, originally it was indeed just a reply to that topic. How it ended up as its own topic all of a sudden, I have no freaking clue.

The other thread seemed to be a discussion between two posters about MLP, IIRC. Nothing against MLP and Get Along Gang, but this thread seemed like a better bet for discussing non-MLP and non-Get Along Gang shows.

When I say "classic Nicktoons," I mean the original 4 or 5 cartoons that aired on Nickelodeon. "Classic" means relative only to the programming from that channel. I'm not calling them "classics" in regards to animation as a whole. Because you're right, in regards to animation overall, the "classics" would mostly be the theatrical shorts from the 1940s and 1950s, which was pretty much the golden age of animation... namely, the original cartoons from Disney, Warner Bros., and MGM.

And yeah... I love those too.

So basically, Nicktoons refers to the 90s Nicktoons. Like Doug, Rugrats and the lot.

I liked Snick (Are You Afraid of the Dark?, mostly). Then again, I was far too obsessed with Power Rangers to focus on anything else as a kid...and PR wasn't on Nick so I had zero incentive to watch Nick except for on weekends.

Does anyone remember Baby Looney Tunes? Or Animaniacs (sp?)? I thought those were ok as a kid. Animaniacs was like the Spongebob of the 90s. A little adult humor here and there, but it always went over the heads of the kid viewers.

Tiny Toons and Animaniacs were two of my absolute favorites... those early-mid 90's WB shows were all fantastic. Also a big fan of "Pinky and the Brain."

(There were SO many good cartoons in the 90's...)


Oh yes, and I don't know if anyone is interested in discovering some new animated shows that are really good or not, but over the last week or so I started watching "Gravity Falls," and I VERY highly recommend it. It's extremely funny, creative, and has really good characters too. (Episode 1 is kind of meh, but once you get to episodes 2 and beyond, it is freaking AWESOME!)

Pinky and the Brain! Forgot about them. Gummi Bears was technically 80s/90s, but that was another awesome cartoon, imo. I also liked the old Winnie the Pooh cartoons. And David the Gnome.

I just realized that I watched way more tv than I remembered. I used to have a hard drive with a lot of this stuff on it from college. I'd fire one up and watch these sorts of shows all night long. Those were the days...

Anyway...the 90s did have good cartoons. But I think that there are some good modern ones too.

One that I have been thinking of checking out is SheZow. It's a cartoon about a boy who finds a ring that turns him into a superhero...SheZow, who also happens to be a girl. A cross-dressing superhero? Oh yes, it has been done! Do a search for "shezow episode" on youtube and you will find some links to complete episodes of the show. They just started airing it on Hub, which I don't get, but it definitely looks worth watching. I'm secretly hoping that they upload it to Netflix after this season is over.

I do my best to keep up with Futurama.  I wonder how long it'll be off the air for this time?

Hope they'll top "Jurassic Bark" again. I cried so hard at that one and actually felt depressed. I think the first thing i did was call my dog to my side and give her a good hug.

Yeah, that was a sad episode.  I hear that Fry's dog is coming back this season!  And he'll be voiced by Seth McFarlane.

That's one episode of Futurama that I just can't watch. I get too worked up over it. I am a big Futurama fan, but I'm taking a break for now. Mostly because I've been watching a lot of Sentai and Power Rangers lately since I'm in the process of writing a novel loosely based around sentai-ish characters. Helps me to get inspired.

^ was the bomb. I gave up on Adult Swim after they killed Metalocalypse (sp? I can never remember how its spelled).

I really liked Courage the Cowardly dog as a kid, even though it creeped me out at times. 

Ohh, I really love the Lion King as well, I still watch that movie every once in a while.

"Stupid dog". That show was fun to watch. I used to watch all sorts of cartoons and I still do >.<.
