Hello everyone. I am two weeks post op MtF and all was going very well until the last day or so. The morning time dilation started okay, but I had to gently pull rather than ease the big boy stent out. Then, this afternoon, the stent seems stuck, just like in a vacuum. It was just stuck up in there.  I was just frantic, I relaxed my muscles, did the breathing thing and repeatedly dropped my pelvic floor, but to no avail. After 30 mins, I started to twiddle the stent and using about 2-3 times more effort to extract it. :-(   In am truly absolutely terrified that I have pulled at my vagina wall and pulled some of it away?   I have been crying with worry, and cannot reach my gender surgery support contact.   Does anyone have experience of this problem?  How does one know they have had a partial prolapse?  Is there any way of checking if you have had a partial prolapse?   I was using Aquagel quite happily until Tuesday when I ran out and used some of KY reserves, then back to the Aquagel today.

Any advice and guidance from someone who has come across this problem would be immensely helpful, as In am having kittens here with the worry   :0(

Many thanks sisters

A friend, who is a medical student and has experience of this condition suggested this:

QuoteIt is very unlikely that she has prolapsed - there would be A LOT of blood... The most likely reason this has happened is that she is not flushing and thus has stale lube residue stuck up there - a saline flush will remove that...

In any case some surgeons advise a bit of GENTLE twisting of the dilator to keep it moving and prevent it sticking - but obviously this is easier if you don't have the type with the bent end... Even if you do a bit of gentle rocking is perfectly OK - just don't turn it to far... maybe 10 to 15 degrees in either direction.

finally she should contact her surgeon for advice as soon as possible - BUT IN THE MEANTIME DO NOT STOP DILATING - continue with care... and that is VITAL - as if you stop then serious problems become likely.

oh and saline flush is a lukewarm water - with a teaspoon full of salt in it - go easy on the quantity... Or her surgeon may recommend some other form of antiseptic flushing solution - but again the important thing is NOT to use anything which is not well diluted - or tissue damage can result.

Kia Ora,

I know the feeling from past experience...

Possible solution = plenty of lubricant then  "gentle" & "slow" 1/4 turns/twist of the dilator when pushing in and same for retrieving it...

Thank you both !  These are two pieces of good advice.  I have been douching each time but not with a saline solution, so will try that.   Thank you BOTH very much. I have been really worried.   Kimbles x

I'd recommend using more lube and using your pelvic muscles to help push it out. It can shoot mine out pretty easily if I push hard enough. Slow and small movements never hurt as well.

The lube is drying out and causing an airtight seal around the dilator. It  happened to me several times in the early days and I was so swollen that the apparent depth was over 7 inches and I had very little dilator to pull on. I agree with everything that others have told you in respect of more lube. The 1/4 turn technique was also demonstrated on me during my first dilation session. I would also suggest though that you try a different brand of lube as this could make things easier. Perhaps one of the liquid lubes like astroglide rather than a gel.

If dilators create an air tight seal then they need a breathing hole down the centre. Is it not possible to obtain dilators with said hole?

Well, getting better.. !  MUCH more lube...using Sylk as top coat, the tiny turns and the ole' salty douche....all working well...back to full depth too..
