Hey gals, this is my first post in the MTF Transsexual talk section. I was just looking at a transition video of someone my age, she was 5'4" and beautiful... I broke down and cried... I can't believe that I'm one of the few god d*mn people my age that are six ->-bleeped-<-ing two?!?! I don't know.... normally I can pull myself out of these depressions but... I don't see that happening anytime soon...

Don't worry about it. Really. I was 6'2" pre-HRT and very, very muscular. After 3 years of HRT, I've lost 2 inches in height and a lot of mass. I pass just fine... even at 6'2" I did pretty good then as well. There are so many things more important things other than just height and pure physical appearance alone. Trust me. I've met plenty of very passable, fem looking MTFs... but upon a closer look, or when hearing their voice, watching how they move, sit, etc. really miss the mark due to small details. Being accepted as a female requires a lot more work than just pure physical looks.

PS: My SRS surgeon (who is also MTF and pretty well known) is around 6' tall and she gets by just fine too. Really, don't worry about it.

Thanks... That helps a lot  ... It's just hard sometimes because everyone at my support group is so much older ad they can't pass, it just gets me depressed sometimes

Many times "support groups" wind up accomplishing the exact opposite of their intended purposes. Not uncommon. When a bunch of people with similar issues get together a lot of projecting goes on... as well as over self-analyzation. Groups have both positive and negative aspects. Really, height alone will not make or break if or not you are accepted by society as a female.

I'm 6'2" as well. I believe Jen has the right advice.

Carley Anne, I have a 19 year old daughter who is 6-feet tall and still growing.  No one mistakes her for a guy because of her height.  (Her older brother is 6' 6")

I used to feel the same way, but you eventually get over it and as JennX mentioned, it is possible to loose some height.
Check out 'Minorqback' on You Tube, she is 6'2 and stunning!! She was a huge inspiration to me and watching her videos really helped me out.

Also, there are some advantages to being a bit taller. We can eat a wee bit more without it showing and we will always have long sexy legs!!

I am 5"9' and although that puts me into taller female range, I have never seen that as an issue. Besides, in my office there are three ladies, including my boss, and they all are taller than me being somewhere in that 6"-6"2' range.
And I would like to concur with what JennX said - passing is not only Your looks. One of the board members here said - sadly I can't remember who was it - that 80% of being recognised as female is Your body language.

why the complaint? i would love to grow taller...
there are loads of nordic girls who are tall...like 6" by the age of 12 or somwthing...

Oh, that is quite an exaggeration . They are not that tall here at that age . But they do grow taller later .
It is just the same as not all Asians are subtle and petite

I don't know your particular "Age". I am Pre-Jurasaic at 56. I am also 6ft tall w/o heels. I can understand how you feel. Back 30-40 years ago when I first seriously thought and tried transitioning I really stood out in a world of 5'4" women and 5'8" men. I also had a childhood where I learned that standing out was not a good thing 

Yet, a few years a tried again. Still 6ft tall, having moved to rural WV where the average woman seemed to be 5'4". Yet between a lot of hard self work, a fantastic TG support group, and a new attitude I somehow managed to achieve my life dream of being seen as and accepted as a woman.

I only feel super envious of another woman now if she is 6'4 and a size 6

If you judge your appearance  based on what others have that you do not, you will only feel bad.  Judge yourself only on what you do have and then you will feel good.  You have to accent the positive, eliminate the negative and don't mess with Ms in between, as an old song goes.  Leigh Anne

There are loads of tall and pretty celebrities, just take a look. Sure makes me feel better at 6ft
