So - I'm guessing quite a few of us have watched videos of transguys on YouTube. Maybe a few even have channels and post videos of their own? I've been considering starting a collab channel and I was just wonnndering if anyone here might be interested in helping out with that effort.

What's the theme of the channel?

The theme? I don't know if "informational" counts as a theme, but I was figuring it'd be different topics every week where everyone could give advice/talk about their personal experiences. It'd be just about the same thing that's out there now, but there's always room for more or new opinions and points of view.

Well you may want to think about what you want your focus to be. I have my channel and then I am on "It's a Man's World FTM". That channel is mostly guys over 30. There is a channel for pretty young guys called "Transfastic" (?) and There's "FTM Kickstart" (which is early transition-- think it's a bit defunct right now). There are state wide collab channels, that sort of thing.

You could do all sorts of collabs-- binary trans; nonbinary trans; femme guys; those from a particular country, region, or state; guys on T for a certain number of months and go thru the transition (actually someone should do this one!).  think there are so many guys you have to think about a focus for it.

Once you get a focus you don't need to be glued to it. We talk about all sorts of stuff that may not have anything to do with being over 30. For instance one topic is on using the men's room. I have heard the identical things from guys who were 16 and guys who are 40.

There's also how to do it. Some take one topic each week. It's a man's world, you make a commitment to try and do it a year. There are 52+ topics and each guy just goes thru the topic. I might be on 3 and someone else on topic 40. I think it's a better way to go tbh. Because by Friday I get pretty tired of a topic.

I agree with Jay.  Having some type of central focus would be a really good thing.  Some of the channels that I follow or used to follow included TheMensRoom (slightly older guys), Pre-T Guys (obviously guys who are Pre-T lol), BrothersInTransition (African-American ftm collab), FTM Television (good blend of diversity) , Transtastic (love the name and I really like to see chase's commentary)

So yeah, some guys can relate to some channels more than others so that might be something to consider. 

I was part of a collab channel awhile back, 4 years ago or something. We had our weekly questions and each person had a day where they would answer. I think it lasted for about half a year.

I remember before starting T, and when trying to inform my mum more about it (I was a young teenager), there was a guy named Skyler on youtube that I showed her, and I used to watch some of his videos. He seemed a great guy, very resourceful and human. I think his link's tag was skylark11. or eleven spelled out, not sure.

I'm on youtube and part of a newish collab.  I'd be interested in helping you out, but I tried being part of two different collabs for a while and that just didn't work out.

I actually disagree with people saying that it's good to have a little niche of people, I like collabs because you get several different easily accessible opinions on the same topic, and if people are too alike then you don't get that variety.  Might just be me though.

Well Alex, I'd agree with you if I thought that the different channels, the people there were so similar that there was no room for divergent povs. You definitely wouldn't want that.

Funny, I just came across one of his videos. It's skylarkeleven, all spelled out, and I agree with you on that.

Would like to help out with a collab, but my voice is too high for my liking right now and my low-quality mic only accentuates it, so I'd feel too self-conscious to talk on a channel 
There's also the fact that in spite of being pre-everything I'm largely stealth and I like it that way. So I dunno.

Oh yeah Sky is amazing. Loved his videos. Also met him at Philly trans health which was pretty awesome. He's just as nice in person as he is in the videos. There is an interview with him mom which is 3 videos. Might be helpful to someone with a supportive parent that wants more info.

Ah that's awesome you met. He seems to be a real down to earth guy.

I think it's great for trans guys and women to put videos containing their real life experience and thoughts out there. I used to have a channel, once, a little after I began my transition. I went back and forth on keeping it, then decided to discard it because I just didn't feel comfortable with it anymore. I think it's good to have people out there representing, but as time passed I became more concerned with being a stealthy shadow of a man. Haha.
