As I'm learning your t can be in the 200's and you can still feminize quite well. Anyways I hope it works out for you.  :)

Talked with my endo and we're gonna see what happens if I go off spiro, btw my T is still about 200ish (ng/dl) so should be interesting. :)

Day 1- no change obv

Best of luck to you.

How long we're you on spiro? It could take as long as 6 months for the spiro to start taking effect.

Yeah don't take it if you don't have to.

Completely agree w/ not taking more meds than necessary!

Also I'm pretty sure even with a lot of T you would still pass flawlessly forever. That bone structure of yours isn't going anywhere.

High Spiro means less t for the e to compete with

Remember that...
Spiro can do a lot when you hit the magic number ..

Jennygirl

bioidentical progesterone (subdermal, transdermal, or injected - NOT oral) is way better and also blocks T

Omg I take medroxyprogesterone...med dose...high Spiro and low e...

Well I am one to suggest never putting any kind of hormone in your mouth because of the horror that my endocrinologist has revealed to me, and I believe him wholeheartedly. I attribute my confidence in him due to the general calmness and lack of any ill mental feeling I have had at any point during my transition- and I am on super high doses of E and P. I am on the feminization fast track, but mentally I seriously feel just as normal as ever.

Soon he is releasing a book detailing all of this stuff. Hopefully it is published soon, because I do not have the resources to completely explain myself. All I know is that the liver doesn't like hormones and it gets the most that way through the digestive tract. I am helping him get his website in order and there will be a lot of information there, too.

Anyway another thing he has told me (because I asked about spiro) was that it's not good for your body or mind at all.. and that only people with highly sensitive T receptors or a high T level should ever need to take it (and a super small dose at that). Most doctors out there are prescribing it to everyone and putting more stress on people's bodies than necessary. It does work, but it comes at the price of nasty side effects.

I bet in the next 10 or so years we will see endos finally getting smart about the way that they prescribe HRT to trans people specifically. It seems like such a specialized thing to do, and unfortunately most endocrinologists just don't have that specialization which is what we all TRULY need.

Good luck GYLF.  I'm sure it will be okay.  Just make sure you keep it monitored.  Not everyone needs spiro, so you may be fine in doing this.

I take a pill (Estradiol alone) because I'm too terrified of needles and can't afford the other methods.  I haven't heard anything bad about pills for the most part and the consensus (from what I've read) has been that it's safe to take it this way.  High dosages are risky, but doses have been more moderate in recent history that all the horror stories aren't all to likely.  But that's just what I've heard.  I don't know too much about spiro as I haven't been put on it yet and my T level is fairly low, but what are these horror stories.

I don't think anything bad will happen like reversal of effects but I am scared for you because i know you want the E to do some more of its magic and wonder if the T will overwhelm the E. But given that spiro hasn't worked too good for you i think you'll be fine and wish i could go off it. I do hear that once T is suppressed that the E will keep it so but you haven't completely suppressed it. I really hope everything works out. Keep us updated.

Worst case (or best if you are like me lol) is eventually gettting an orchi and probably not needing Spiro at all, or any other androgen blockers.

I was under the impression that some top grs surgeons
Don't want you to have an orchi....at least from what I understand
From my phone interview with pappilon gender center..

I think I may. Have some confusion over it

As of yesterday I'm on the highest dose of estrogen pellets + progesterone shots my endocrinologist has ever given to one of his patients, and I have no bad side effects whatsoever... just some sore nippies, which is a good sign to me. I'm skinny and have a B cup after not even 7 months.. and they haven't even filled out all the way in terms of shape. There is literally no fat on my chest, it's literally all breast tissue. My endocrinologist seems to think when the fat redistributes to my chest I will end up at a C based on the amount of breast tissue that I've already grown.

He also said that estrogen has more of a slimming effect while progesterone usually causes the weight gain. He mentioned that people with larger amounts of bodyfat tend to benefit from lower dose of P, while people with relatively low amounts of bodyfat benefit from a more substantial amount of it.

I do think it's helping me gain the weight in the right places. My butt has totally softened out and I'm really excited about that the most. Ever since I started doing triple shots of P, the male shape side divots in my butt completely disappeared. It's now round and shapely.

That's really helpful info Jenny! I've never been able to gain weight consciously, it's always been stuck at this. I'll speak to my doctor about starting progesterone next month <3
