Hey everyone!
So I have severe psoriasis (pic below) and it is super embarrassing I basically wear a sweater and Jeans everywhere. Problem is I live Florida and I work outside. It is really starting to get old and looks both crazy and rather dudely. I dont want to go out without one because people tend to stare and sometimes say things like, "is that contagious?" With that said, i was hoping maybe I could get some tips to minimize both visible skin while keeping semi cool. I'm thinking about stocking up on some flannel shirts as they seem more summer appropriate. thanks for any help!

Try linen shirts and blouses.  They will keep the sun off you and are super light and summery. I often wear them on hot days here. Yoox has some nice ones on sale now actually.

Have you considered Under Armor type shirts.  But, not necessarily that brand because they are expensive.  Especially for working purposes they have that moisture wicking fabric that takes the sweat away from your skin.  It really does work to.  I used to wear Starter's version under my soccer jerseys.

I don't know how psoriasis will react to it, but I think it would be worth considering.

I'd go with something light with long sleeves button front. Long, light-weight. Burnout cotton, linen, or natural blend. You could always wear a cami underneath and leave the first few top buttons undone.

I like JennX's suggestions and really Michelle you are a gorgeous girl even with the psoriasis. I've had friends with that level of psoriasis before and they beat it so there must be a treatment for you as well. Or so I would hope.

I might just be weird, but I think it looks cool.       You look really good,  but yea, those really light linin long sleeve shirts would probably be your best bet.  they make them with really open baggy sleeves also if you want the extra comfort/air flow.

Thanks, I googled linen shirts and quite a bit came up. I actually have a linen jersey style shirt that I love. I just didn't know the name.

I love those! Do you by chance shop at Target? Just curious if you seen much like this there? I haven't been to the mall in forever and my budget's a little tight so I'm thinking off checking out Target tomorrow.

Thank you very much Yeah, it wasn't this bad a couple months ago. I lost my health insurance and I kind of had to pick between treatings the psoriasis or HRT, and for me that wasn't even a choice!!! But, around September I should have insurance again and I plan on nuking it with meds. It's insane, without insurance they want like $2000 for the bi-weekly injections - could believe it, that's like $42,000 a year for some red skin... no way!!

Thank you lol I actually don't think that's crazy. Sometimes I just feel like I've got a lot of tattoos. It might be sad but sometimes I look at the spots like clouds, like hmm this one looks like a dog and this one a flower :p

Im also a nurse so thats why it doesnt bother me, from a medical standpoint it facinates me, and I have tons of tattoo's.  To me its like free red cheeta spots ^_^       I understand sometimes it can be itchy and no fun for ya,  But i got a weird way of finding the bright side in almost everything. 

2k for bi weekly injections?  those gold diggers be better off teachin you how to do it and sending you home with a script.

Right!! So yeah, I don't have that kind of money lol and so I had to let it go. What's incredible though is that it goes for around 2k per injection out-of-pocket but when I had insurance it came out to $15...

No regrets though, not even the slightest about choosing HRT over the meds. Just until next month I want to femme up my otherwise very grungy sweater & jeans combo.

same here. I threw my adhd and arthritis meds on the back burner for HRT.  ADHD can be self medicated with sleep depervation XD

Yoox is fantastic! There are a lot of overpriced and horribly ugly things on it, but if you are like me, and love to look at clothing and have a few designers you love and know well, you can really get great deals now and then. I love Band of Outsiders, but don't want to spend 400 euros on a dress. But if you are lucky and check frequently, you can sometimes get that dress off Yoox for 50 or 60 euros.

Good luck with the clothing search. In any respect, I don't think you should be ashamed. You look super cute currently.

Sounds like you were on Humira.  My daughter self-injects that for Crohns.

Have sever bruising problems on my arms, and if I'm going somewhere on a hot day a very loose lace long sleeve over a lace tank or T works ok, but had to get bras to match.  It's not a perfect solution, but it helps. 

And last week got two more short sleeve lace tops at Walmart clearance for $3 to wear under the only two long sleeve lace tops I have.
