Just started HRT

Ok, so I just got my prescription from the endo, and I am a little puzzled. He gave meDepo-Estradiol to take one every two week by and injection, but didn't give me any T-Blockers. IS a T-Blocker not needed with this med for some reason, or did the Endo make a mistake?

Best bet would probably be to contact the endo and ask them.

As E actually lowers your T levels as well, many endos these days will start you off on E-only regimens, and adjust (read: add anti androgens) as needed after the first few months. If you're lucky you won't need T-blockers, which saves your body having to deal with those on top of everything else. 🙂

I went 8 months without T blockers, and have done just fine on an E dose that many people would consider ineffective. Your Endo exercised competent medical judgment based on your overall physical condition would be my guess. There is NO one set regimen for cross gender hormones that can be considered "THE" treatment. Certainly, ask why and what went into his decision, that you are entitled to.

That doesn't sound un normal to start off with. In 3-6 months I'm guessing you will see some interesting results girl

Thank you for the replies. 🙂 I'm on day #3 now and I feel like im getting hot flashes or episodes of sweating. I hope that I get great results as I don't want to look in the mirror and see an ounce of resemblance to ever have a guys body. How long before i will feel mental changes and mood swings??? Also, apparently the shot has a blocker in it, interesting.

Alot of Endo's put you on the E or the T blockers one at a time to see how your body reacts to them also. So they arnt guessing on which meds your body isnt enjoying/ responding poorly to. Mine put me on E then a few months later the T blockers just so we could make sure my body wasnt gonna spaz out.

I'm midway passed two weeks into HRT, myself. I was on spiro alone for about a week then after that, the E injections, but I get estradiol valerate IM weekly, self injected. Sometimes an endo will do low dose of one with the other med to see how they work together, sometimes just the one unless there is a reason for the other one. They should know what to look for in your blood panel work, so trust they got a reason. If in doubt, ask them 🙂 Also, welcome to the club, it only gets better from here 🙂
