Was it more gradual or did it crack?

And is the voice cracking more of an 'I have a sore throat' or an 'I need to clear my throat' feeling?

It was kind of a sore throat from swallowing a lump, but not actually  swallowing anything.

As to gradual or cracking, a bit of both.

Mine has been pretty gradual. I had a week or two where it cracked quite a bit, but since then it's mostly just when I get excited or angry. I didn't ever really feel like I had a sore throat. It was definitely a constant "I need to clear my throat" feeling, and I've still got that going on.

Both. The major shifts involved cracking, and the gradual ones are less dramatic.

I get a few different phenomena. I think I had some sore throat issues early on, but mostly I remember the horribly annoying must-clear-my throat impulse and the insane tickling and coughing. I'm going through both right now, alternating. My voice is kind of buzzy, but I also squeak at times--but it's not real cracking. People say I sound a bit as if I have a cold. Some days I'm clearing my throat like there's no tomorrow, and other times I'm coughing because of the tickle. It's been going on for a couple of weeks now, off and on, and I'm so tired of it.

Erm, I found that I had sort of a tightness in my throat? Maybe? It wasn't extremely noticeable. My voice experiences a drop every month or so. They were minor changes, but it happens fairly abruptly when it does drop.

When it cracks, I just find, it's almost like just getting cut off. All of a sudden the vocal chords don't want to vibrate the same and it just gets cut off into a squeak. I found at times I actually lost my voice and had trouble forming full sentences because I'd get cut off. Actually, I am experiencing that as we speak, lol. I'll say a word and it'll squeak away into a whisper. It's frustrating but not the end of the world.

Mine is changing. I think it has gone down a few times and each time it is proceeded by a lot of soreness, but it isn't exactly like I have a sore throat or something, since it goes away and comes back.

Mine has been cracking all over the place the past few weeks. It's not really sore, but sometimes it does feel like I have to clear my throat a lot. Mostly it just feels like that strained feeling I get when I lose my voice as I'm getting over a cold. Not sore or stuffy so much as just difficult to convince sounds to come out correctly. Right now how my voice sounds is sort of a grab bag-- on any given occassion, it might be high, it might be low, it might not come out at all, or it might sound like an angry goose.

Also, I've had something like three or four really major shifts that involved lots of cracking, but I've had more minor shifts than I can remember--must be at least seven or eight by now. I'm not sure about the one I'm going through. It seems like a minor shift, but it's taking weeks. I just have to wait it out.

I see... From the sound of it, my voice should be dropping soon. I'm kind of looking forward to sounding like an angry goose. That sounds fun :D

My voice started cracking a lot when I was at about three months, and kept cracking while gradually getting deeper until around 7-8 months.  I think it's still getting lower, but I haven't had a crack in a while.  I remember first noticing a difference after just a few days on T, it wasn't really getting lower but I also couldn't reach higher pitches anymore.

Well, I always felt like I was abnormal seeing as mine NEVER "cracked" and suddenly started getting deeper.  I never had a sore throat - I never felt like I needed to clear my throat.  I couldn't even hear my voice changing at all and didn't believe that it had until I started getting "sir" on the phone and then went back and compared the videos I'd been taking of myself.

So my voice "drop" never happened with a big bang - on my videos, pre-T it's very high - then 3 months later it's lower - then 6 months after that, it's a completely different voice.

it was gradual and it cracked, it continued to change from around the end of month 1, to around the end of month 3.

I consider voice cracking to be, like.. brady bunch, talking and then it just changes pitch mid word. I cant really recall if it was like a sore throat or like a lump, but I think it was more of a lump in the throat feeling.

No cracking here, mine's just been gradual. I'm 2.5 months on T, and have been getting lots of comments on my voice from family and friends. Also never had any sore throat, lump feelings, any of that. Just a gradual deepening starting around week 2.

Mine has been gradual with only one cracking incident.  I'm only a month in though, but it's definitely deeper.  However, last week during an interview when I was answering one question my voice squeaked part way through a word, which was odd to say the least, and embarrassing!  Lol  But that's the only time it's every done anything weird...and it just had to be at the worst time!

I haven't gotten sore throats, more just that my throat feels tighter and I feel like I have to clear it more.  And now when I talk I feel it more coming from my chest than just throat.  Like it has more of a male resonance.  I'm just 2 shots in at a low dose though so I imagine more shifts will happen and might crack then, we'll see.

I'm only 2 months on T, but so far, my voice hasn't really cracked. But I do think it is somewhat lower at times.

Am I allowed to add an extra question here? If not, tell me to shoo! :P

How many of you have this two-voice thing going on? I mean, I notice that at times my voice sounds lower and raspy, and at other times, it sounds pretty much like my normal female voice and is thus high. I can never predict which one it will be, which is rather weird. Anyone else has this, or did your voice just go from high to low over time?

Mine's been doing that for a month or so
