Lunch with my Aunt

I had lunch with my Aunt today.  My Mom had mentioned my transition to her a few weeks ago, so she had worked on a bunch of questions to figure out what was going on.  She was relieved to hear that I'm doing well, and she even commented that I'm happier and more talkative than I used to be.  The most important question had to do with my Crohn's disease, and she liked hearing that my gastrointestinal doctor was okay with everything.

We talked about my parents a bit, too.  My mom is having a tough time (like we all know), and apparently she's had issues with gay people before.  I commented that my mom should seek some kind of therapy, and it sounds like she is!  My aunt even offered to go with her!  *fingers crossed*

The rest of my extended family, at least on my Mom's side, knows (thanks Mom... I think I should have been the one to tell them) and they're all okay with it!  A different aunt just had other relatives come out as gay, so they're dealing with that at the same time but they liked hearing that I'm happier now.  And my other Uncle is cool with it as well.  So it sounds like I won't need to worry too much about that side of the family :)

That is wonderful!

Things're finally looking up for you. :D
I hope your mom comes out of therapy a cheerier and more supportive person (And still female - after all, who knows what therapists do to you... :) )
Don't lose who you are along the path to who you want to be.

Blasphemy, a pizza should be thin crust. <draws line in sand and hunkers down in foxhole for a long battle>

I haven't had a thick-crust pizza in a long time, it would be quite welcome. I like thin-crust pizza, but i'd like some variety.

Haha!  Maybe she'll get a therapist that pushes her to transition?

I'm okay with any style pizza, but I usually hope for a butter-parmesean-garlic flavored crust :)

Glad things are going well.

The best pizza is anchovy and jalapeno.

Glad it went so well and the family is with you! It really helps.

I had an American pizza for lunch, seems cruel but at least we have found a use for you lot ::)
