So tomorrow (today actually, considering it's already 1:20 am) my girlfriend and I are going to the mall. I got excited when she asked because a.) I absolutely love going shopping with her, and b.) I think I'm going to be purchasing my first openly feminine accessory. I already talked to her about it, and she was okay with it, so that's pretty great :D anyways, she likes to go into this little store that has loads and loads of cheap jewelry; rings and necklaces and hair clips and just loads of accessory type stuff. I always loved going in there with her cause everything has so much personality and such. In my mind I would always pick out things I would wear and buy. So, I think I'm going to make my thoughts a reality and buy a ring!
*pointless ranting paragraph to follow: just kind of feel like sharing the information with people*
I am starting therapy (just with a gender therapist, not HRT) in less than a month. I've come out to my girlfriend and parents, and my brother and his girlfriend know as do my auntie and uncle whom psychologists. I have a group of guy friends I hang out with every week, and I go to school with one of them, so they are the final people I would like to eventually come out to personally. Possibly before school starts again in the fall. Once they know I'll be able to wear the ring openly; classmates will see it and so I guess that'll prepare them for whatever else may come in the future. I feel as though people may sarcastically be like "do you want us to clap for you?" after reading this, but I'm just super-excited!! :D

You go girl!  :D Jewelry and accessories are one of the easiest ways to express yourself because there are so many different types and styles. I was always able to get away with a lot of girly clothes and makeup and the like because of my career as a cirque performer. A few months ago I finally got my ears pierced and let me tell you, long dangly earrings are so much fun!! I have a hard time keeping track of small things like rings sometimes though xD so a lot of the time I just have things like hair ties wrapped around my fingers. What sort of ring were you thinking to get?  ;D

PS: I'll clap for you. ^_^ I'm excited for you too!

For how could I ever ask someone to love me as a woman for my body, if I can't even love my body as a woman for myself?

Thanks Makalii! :) I feel the same way; even now I wear a lot of bracelets but I've always wished I could wear female jewelry and accessories - especially flower hair clips, yes yes yes :D and earrings too of course. I've also been looking online at ear cuffs (since my ears are not pierced), so eventually I'd like to get those too ^_^
But as far as the type of ring, I'm not really quite sure. I'm just going to go to the store and see what they've got that catches my eye!
And awww, thanks!! :)

Jewellery is lovely! It was my own first way that I expressed my personal femininity as well. I loved necklaces, bracelets, and then right before transitioning, earrings!

Now I keep my jewellery simple, but if there is anything to calm one's dysphoria, it's shiny, pretty accessories!

Last summer I made a ring (I gave it to my best friend a while back), then last fall I started wearing a bracelet I got, and then a silver ring. This spring I got a necklace. And last friday I got my ears pierced. I wouldn't say it does THAT much, people probably assume I'm gay for now. I need to get a new ring now :P

Start small and work your way up! I love my jewelry, despite what people think of me when they see me (I don't know what they think), I like being "different".

Thanks everyone! :D
Unfortunately we had to reschedule :/ oh well, we're still going by Friday so it's all good.

I have had a couple of first these past few weeks.  I got the urge to pierce my ears and needed some studs, so off to town i went in male attire.  When I got into the store i happened to look down and see the sparkling toes in my flip flops!!  then a few days later i showed up at work with my studs in both ears, I work for a small family owned construction where you know every employee ....got a lot of questioning that day...lol.

Nice! That sounds pretty exciting :D well, perhaps aside from the questioning... lol. I hope that went well!

m, it really wasnt too bad.  I just told them i got bored one night and wondered what i would look like with earrings which i was being totally truthful in saying.  I have worn them every day since.  womdering what my next uh oh is going to be.

I always loved jewelry that has a meaning behind it. For example I always, no matter what I'm doing, wear a Maui fishing hook around my neck, to represent my Hawaiian name and my Hanai family. I even have different ones for different occasions. I even have a silver one for really fancy things. ^_^ Someday I hope to get something with a transexual symbol on it.
Anyways, be sure to let us know what you get! ^_^

What an awesome starting!!

That's about what I did...a series of things my ex wouldn't approve of, but hey "it's better to apologize than ask permission."

Growing out the hair, ears pierced, when those heal, subdued danglies, then bright danglies...clear nail hardener, then color (closely matching your natural nail color), of course one or two items of jewelry (not including the earrings, of course...ring(s), bracelets, necklaces, hair decorations (I have a couple clip-on butterflies).

All this and more is yours...as well as the timetable--take it at your leisure, this is a fun and exciting time for you!

:)

Yes, get jewelry, lots of jewelry. I love to wear jewelry, probably because what I wear is one of the few ways I express myself.

Anyways, this reminds me.. maybe when I order guitar strings, I will also get a ring or something, as long as my parents don't ask questions. I remember wearing lots of rings when I was younger, too bad I lost them. Now I usually wear a necklace when I go out somewhere, was cool when the guys at my youth group asked why I was wearing a necklace, and what the word "priceless" on it meant.. forgot the meaning, but it was something like women being priceless *shrug*.

Wonder what people would think if I suddenly started wearing a heart necklace(I would if I had a chance)...

Getting my first hole done in my ears (have 2 holes in each ear now)... i was not sure I wanted earrings in my ears when I had them pierced, but I never took them out, as loved my newly pierced ear lobes .

I remember after it healed, i bought myself large hoop earrings, wow i love wearing them.

I usually go for shoes while still part time. With a lot of mens fashion using colors that at one time were reserved only for women you can get away with a lot more now...like my black and teal shoes that i wear with black plaid shorts and a teal and black shirt. No one can tell they are womens shoes and if they can they don't say anything lol
