Probably depends on who you go to with the letter, but yes.

The therapist I got my T letter from lived in a different state, because a friend in a far away land referred me to her and she agreed to meet with me over Skype due to the distance. It worked out fine for me.

I went the online therapy route.  It's possible to get your T letter that way but you need to make sure your endocrinologist will accept it.  I'm not going to be on T for a while so the letter I will actually be working on is my top surgery letter, which I will get once I have the funds.

I found it to be too expensive and difficult personally. It really depends on your budget, imo. Many of the therapists I looked into asked for $400+ to be diagnosed with GID and more to be given letters for T and surgery. :/ I paid $25 at a low income clinic that was...very far from me, but I still paid less commuting combined with the costs from the psychiatrist than I would have doing online therapy. If you know you can't get to a therapist who can provide you with what you need and are stretched, I'd go for it. Otherwise, you might want to consider just going to see someone in person.

Cool I didn't know you could get your letters from the clinic. That's really my only financial option.

Depends on the clinic.

Should I ask during the first session whether it's even possible to get my papers? Is one able to get that information before the first session? Or does that all depend on the location/company?

Yes you can get all you need with the right therapist on-line. I originally had two well know on-line ones (a male and a female) for over 6 months. They we both fantastic and so knowledgeable and both assured me that they can get you the required letters at the appropiate time. I settled for the male and he has been fantastic and I have been talking with him for over a year 2x a week at $135 per sessions.
