Hmm considering the context of this being asked on a TG forum (so it would get a different response if it was something said on my Facebook page by my friends).
It has been my experience, that it is more acceptable for girls to be overly 'bubbly' when showing excitement, ie louder more squeally.
My male friends tend to show 'excitement' in a more gutteral fashion, hooting, and grunting and oohhyas.
Girls get to jump up and down, guys get to do the shoulder slap/punch thing.
Thanks to my making a big effort to conceal absolutely nothing of my being female to anyone that knows me, I have as a result no need to worry about expressing myself in any form of masculine fashion.
But I am not generally speaking the giddy jump up and down squeally sort regardless.
I'm just not the gutteral grunting shoulder punching sort either.
I think it is considered ordinary to combine all of the above though if your team just won, and all the more so if they won a key game. And that is both genders to my knowledge.
Now if by 'excitement' you were thinking of something else
