It has been about ten years since I first booted up Susan's Place on the web. I believe that it was back in 1997, when I first discovered this website. It seems much has stayed the same and other things about the site have changed. I believe that the basic layout of the site is very much the same, but with new and more topics. Ho yes, some of the photos used in the current avatars and threads are the same photos used ten years ago! ;D I guess change is good, but even better is understanding why some things change and why other things do not. Silence, sight, and time are the keys to knowledge and action.

Often I have wondered if anyone has been around here longer than me, I started coming here in 1998.

Not only has Susan's grown in the last decade, but transgender resources over all across the internet have increased in volume, as well as quality. Yet Susan's has always been at the top of the list.

Thanks for taking me back to some old, and mostly fond, memories.

I've only been here a short while but whatever comments are made about this forum it seems to me that it's the most active, helpfiul and interesting gender based forum I've visited and there are many other forums that are just not in the same league as this one...

I have been on Susans for at least 10 years. I do go and come, but I always come back. I like the format. I have only recently been able to put a picture of myself. I have had a Mac for a long time and couldn't put one on here, but since I got a PC I have been able to put my picture here. There have been some people that have gone and not come back or permanantly taken off, which I do hear from now and then. There are some who I have wondered about and would love to find out how they are doing. Susans, like I have said before, has helped me out in transitioning. I don't make many friends and as far as support groups go, I found one and it happens that I was more aware of a lot of things because of this group. I found Susans when I first got on the internet and that was in the 90's. Or maybe earlier. I don't remember, it was a long time ago and a lot has happen since then. My life has gone from being average Joe to the dumps to amazing Sheila. If I had not thanked Susan before, let me do it now. THANK YOU VERY MUCH SUSAN. You mean a lot to me.

Sheila, I still hear from or know where a lot of the old time group are. HeatherTX, FranKC, Suzanne (the Arctic Fox), Brenda, Jamie Lauren, Jennifer V and even She Who Shall Not Be Named sends me an e-mail occasionally.

1998. I remember. It was in order to first post here that I realized I needed to choose a femme name. I selected Elisabeth Anne as a name, but needed something less formal for posts. So Lisbeth was the answer.

Curious, anybody here (aside from me) remember The Pirate Den in it's original form and what it was specifically for?
Ah! The voyage of the Marie Gallant! No brig was ever so homey!!!! The that was here, too.

Yes, I remember the Pirate den. I didn't go there too much. Beverly, how is Jamie doing and is she still with Jennifer? How about Brenda, I didn't talk much with her but she was really a smart gal. I learned a lot from her. Yes, I still get an e-mail from you know who, at least once a month. She is doing fine and I don't think she is much calmer, but we got along ok.

I didn't know this website had been helping the community for that long. That's awesome to know. :)

I knew this site had been around for a while, but I didn't realize it was for that long. It sounds like it came up about a year or two after I got online. If only I had known. But, I consider myself lucky to have found it when I did.

Thank you, Susan, for the effort.

And thank you to all of the people who have come and gone and come back. Thank you for keeping the the lights on and the doors open.

Love,

Rebecca

Hey, I was online in 1988 (The web didn't exist then, USENET (used Tin as my newsreader) and EMAIL was basicly the internet, you had information servers like gophers and the like, that's even before the mother of all browsers, WWW, a very primitive text browser, in the early 1990's, I remeber when using mosaic and lynx (very good text browser I used until 1999), then netscape arrived in late 1994, god, I feel like a dinosoar.
