While transgender people serve in the military at a rate double the general population, they nonetheless face discrimination during and after service, according to a new study.

Service as a transgender individual is still illegal in America.  Not just DADT-style "open service is illegal."  Service of any sort at all, open or closeted, is illegal.

And that's wrong.
