Well what can I really do?  Do you have any products that I can use to fix up my hair? As much as I love it, it gets rather messy and its too awkward to do anything with.

Well, that depends on what your hair is like (thick or thin, straight, curvy, wavy) and what you'd like to do with it (high maintenance, low maintenance).

Best advice I might give is to get thee to a drug store and ask the staff in cosmetics which products would be good for you...they're generally knowledgeable, and very easy to talk with. You don't even have to come "out" to them if you're early in transition...but they won't bite you if you do. In fact, it may be better for you, because then they can point out the more girlie products (not just shampoo and conditioner (don't need to be the same brand, btw), but also mousse (what I use at work; not shown in my avatar), hair gel, anti-heat spray (if you use curling irons or blow dryers), combs, brushes, clips, "scunchees", barrettes, etc.

Hope this helps.  :)

I would suggest mousse. Wash and condition in the shower (in the morning), while hair is still wet put in about a golf-ball+ amount of product, work it in to the hair.

It will emphasize the waviness you're already getting, and it should stay intact through the day. (I generally brush mine out soon after getting home from work).

Get a package of bobby pins to control any rambuctious hairs or bangs, as needed. Only use a couple or three, though. Too many = looks bad.

For hair styles, use Google "womens short to medium hair styles" or somesuch. You can also buy the latest fashion magazines, but I don't like spending that much money just to be fashionable...better to use it to pay a hairstylist to do me.

What's your goal for hair length? (Mine is to be able to bring it around the front, and drape it between the breasts...another year of growth for me. Btw, hair generally grows about 1/2" per month, 6" per year)

Just wait 'til it gets slightly past shoulder length. Best hair length ever. :)

Yeah, apart from the constant food craving, my hair has started growing super fast - about 1.5" last month alone. I need to lose weight badly though because I look strange.....if I was thinner I think I'd probably pass right now, but I'm stuck pretty much pretending to be a boy day in and day out with exception of a few trips to the 'gayborhood'
