A UK man who is in prison gets funding for SRS, all payable by the Tax payer. What do people think who live in the UK who can't afford SRS?

I think the system is a joke. Not even because of that alone, but because there are people homeless or struggling for money yet you commit a crime, get sent to prison and get everything for you, food, sometimes a tv and internet. It's a joke. To be funded srs when there are decent human beings in the world who try and do right but can't get srs is a joke. The UK prison system is messed up, as well as the benefit system. I could rant all day about this.

They are treating a medical condition? Should we not treat those or is the suggestion that it is just a choice for the person?
Sure it's bad that there are homeless.  How about we tax the rich harder and house them.
We can judge how civilised a society we are by how we treat those who hold no power.  That includes minorities,  prisoners, even animals.

I have read even in the states some TG are doing crimes that will put them in jail just so they can get there GCS done. Is it wight or wrong? Many people do desperate things sometimes.

For me that would not be a choice i would take.

ps. But in the UK you can get the GCS done with out going to jail so not sure why someone would do that there. Hmm!!!

The NHS is a national health service. It is there for anybody. Prisoners don't stop being people. Now I can understand why people would be disgusted by said prisoner receiving the treatment and I'm not taking a side on it. The real question is why on earth did the person in question even accept SRS by the NHS?!

Tbh when it comes to lazer treatment and HRT I would gladly let the NHS provide that. But for me, personally, I just don't trust the NHS with something as big as that. SRS is not an easy surgery and when my time comes I will gladly dish out the $$$ to pay for a doctor who is recognized within the transgender community as a pro, rather than some NHS doctor.

I know that sounds snobby as hell, but when it comes to the private regions, you never can be too careful ;)

Yeah they are still people, but say someone murders your child, parent, anyone close to you, then they get locked up, but all the while get great meals, a tv, internet, sometimes even games consoles. Yet you get people who work their butt off, pay taxes and can barely afford to pay rent or their mortgage. How is that fair? In the UK, you can brutally murder a child, then get sentenced to 'life' but be out in ten years. It's rubbish. Like I said, the system is a joke.

Yeah the hilarious stories we get over here in the papers about prisoners is just classic. A few years back an illegal immigrant got himself imprisoned so he'd get good English lessons, a roof over his head and hot meals. Living the life!

If he was an illegal immigrant he'd've been deported at the end of his sentence. So if that really did happen outside Richard Littlejohn's imagination, it was kind of a short-sighted strategy on the prisoner's part.

You're right, he could have been legal. I'm not entirely sure. But then I'm sure due to the European court of human rights, people can't always be deported. Britain is famous around the world for what some might call a "soft touch" approach.

This is a contentious issue.  It was the cause of a number of heated discussions regarding the case of convicted murderer Michelle Kosilek in Massachusetts.

EDIT:

Joey provided the link to the Daily Mail article of 3 August 2013.  The discussion is transferred to this People News posting:

Susan also removed the smite on Dreams2014 as being simply wrong, if they were in fact incorrect on their facts; doesn't warrant a smite.
