Hi everyone.

I am 25 and I'm about to start my transition. I have been going to therapy for a while now. I'm actually feeling better about myself or the first time in a long time but I'm still scared to death (mainly because I'm tall). Growing up, I hid my feelings from everyone. I thought I was crazy to think that way. It caused me a lot of pain and still does. I went into a deep depression and closed myself off from the world from about the age of 15 until I was 22. My feelings scared me to death. I don't know why, but I couldn't bring myself to talk to anyone about it. So I just became more closed off. I kept people away and only had a few friends. I was really unhappy. Well, these days I'm trying to be more sociable and friendly but I think I missed some critical development steps Its just hard working away all those layers.

I can really relate to your story about withdrawing and being afraid to talk about your feelings.  I did that all too successfully for a long time.

   It's great that you have found yourself. Do not feel bad about maybe having taken too long. Some of us took twice as long as you. It's never too late to bloom and you've probably picked a good time now that you are old enough to have control over your process.

Its funny, I had to move many states away from my old life and family before I started facing my issues. I've always been a later bloomer I was just at the point that if I didn't do something, I probably would have killed myself. Therapy has been helping tons and I love my therapist for helping me find myself. I'm an undergrad now and glad I'm back at school because it sure was hard working two jobs just to make ends meet.
