Just need some general info about traveling to Phuket for SRS, what I will need, cash wise. As a recovering alcoholic, I have already been warned about the nightlife there!

Gosh, is anybody out there? (echo, echo, echo...)
I'm considering Thailand, too, but it's too bad nobody seems to be willing to offer advice on this thread.  There are others who've posted about it though.  Keep up the search and good luck!

Figure out your hotel and daily costs first.  You may try talking to somebody who went to Dr. Phuket.  I would estimate you would need $3000-$4000 over there for hotel, food, spending money, taxi tips, etc) based on what Rashelle has told me for Bangkok and Dr. Chettawut.  You might want some cash reserves as well in cash or credit card you do need more.  Also, If you are planning on using a credit card over there, make sure you notify your bank, so they don't suspect fraud and turn off your card.

Oh yeah, you may want to learn a couple Thai phrases.  That can go a LONG way for you.  Here's a few pages off a really helpful site I use:

10 very useful phrases

Gender differences in the language. (Women end some sentences with ka and men with khrab).

This might be helpful while in the clinic if people are having difficulty understanding english.

Here's the main page if you want to learn more.

Also, you may be able to save some money just by learning the language, since Thai people can actually get better prices on some things.

That's about all I can offer for now.  Good luck.

I went to a lot of websites before I went and they told me that I needed a lot of stuff. I found out that most of the stuff that I took could be purchased in Thailand. They have a lot of stores, now, I stayed in Bangkok. We took a 100 dollars in Bahts which was about 4000 Bahts at that time. There were debit and credit card places all over the city. We found out that it was better to exchange when we got there. Now, this was in 04. I had taken a lot of stuff, but left most of it as it wasn't needed. My doctor gave me all that I needed or I bought what he told me to get. I took a lot of pads, but could have purchased them there. They have stores and in most cases the product was cheaper.
