Hello everyone!

So I'm still in college and covered by my parents insurance. He recently started a new job and after 3 months, the insurance will kick in Monday. I don't live with them and the only person who still talks to me is my dad and he's super busy. So I haven't really been able to ask him about this new insurance and I'm terrified as I've heard United Healthcare doesn't care about us...

Does anyone have United Health Care Choice or United Health Care Choice Plus?

Do they cover anything?

Thanks!

I can't answer your question in particular, but I wanted to let you know that all policies are different.  It's really hard to tell what is covered and what isn't from what you stated alone.  I would suggest asking your father to reach out to his hr department and see if he can get the policy information delivered to him.  I dealt with Aetna in the past and they are very ambiguous about what they cover.  It's mainly up to the employer if they cover these sorts of things, so I would check and see what's available.

I had them when i was in the states, they have the TG exclusion on there policy. Only thing i have seen news in the states where some states have made insurance companys stop there exclusions. You will have to do a seach and see if you live in one. But for me i had outside prescription plan and that i had most of my meds covered.

Wish you luck, hold in there lots of movements are happening in the states for us GID...

I've been on UHC since the first of the year and I believe they are covering my hormones - I'll confirm that with my wife since she normally picks up our medicine and as it would be she just called in prescriptions before she left for work this morning.

I can't speak on therapy as I chose to pay for mine out of pocket; and I know our UHC plan does have a TG exclusion so I know they won't pay for surgery.

All policies are different and developed by the companies paying the policy.  If your dad's employer has it in their contact they will cover it.  You should have an insurance card. Call the toll free number on the back and ask the insurance company.

As was pointed out the coverages/exclusions can and do vary by policy; but I did pick up my Estradiol this evening and it was $4 as I said above either UHC is paying for it or it's one of the "$4 prescriptions" at Wal-Mart.  I'm not sure about my Spiro since the prescriptions got out of sync when my dosages changed last time.

It's definitely worth a call to see.
