I was in Montréal this week and used the opportunity to get an appointment with Dr Brassard's partner, Dr Bélanger, meet other members of the staff and just get a look around
so that I had better idea of what I would be getting myself into if I chose to go with him. Actually it's them as Dr's Brassard and Bélanger operate together leading to a very short surgery, typically about 1.5 hours.
I also learned that the surgery is done under local anesthetic ( deep epidural) and another drug that puts you to sleep but without anaesthethizing  the whole body.
They had just reopened after summer vacation so there were no post-ops  in the residence but there were several ladies there for post-op visits who seemed to be in very good shape just about a month after their surgery.
Other than that, the whole operation is in a very pretty neighbourhood in Montréal with lot's of greenery and a nice little lake almost on the doorstep. I must say I far prefer the idea of the residence with both single and shared rooms to finding myself alone in a hotel somewhere just 3 or 4 days after discharge from the hospital. I came away very favorably impressed confirming me in the idea that Montréal would be one of my preferred options.
Last info worth mentioning, they typically operate 5 people on Mondays and 3 people on Thursdays and their schedule is generally full for 3 months ie. right now the earliest you could get a slot would be December.
Hugs
Donna

P.S. If I do go with Dr Brassard, I will be their first Irish woman, Yah!
