Hope this isn't a stupid question...
I keep seeing that after a hysto, it's bad if you don't continue taking T because you won't have any estrogen either.
I was just wondering, why is it that it's bad to have no hormones in your body? I mean, pre-puberty and post-menopause people are without hormones, right? Correct me if I'm wrong... It just doesn't quite make sense to me. I'm not wanting to go off T after a hysto, it was just a question that kept coming up in my mind.

Like I just posted in the other thread you technically CAN live without synthetic hormones after a complete hysto. Your adrenal glands emit enough hormones to sustain life but you're going to feel like crap all of the time and your bone health may suffer...so you're going to want to take one hormone or the other.

Just look up "menopause". That's pretty much exactly what'll happen. People can live for long time afterward, but it does take a toll on the body.

It's a myth you can live without hormones. YOu need to take large doses of Calcium/D and exercise esp with weight bearing types of exercise. You will not get visible benefit from exercise. Some people don't feel great and others aren't bothered. There maybe reasons why it would be easier for a 50+ person to do this than a 20 year old  person, which I am unaware of and I don't know if it would interfere with an otherwise normal lifespan. You might end up with a bit higher T levels than the average female bodied person.

So, in order to prepare for the zombie apocalypse where there will be no easy access to hormones, keep our ovaries?

I'm not positive because I don't really look into anything that has to do with the female reproduction system, but I thought after awhile on synthetic T the ovaries cease to function anyways?

I do stand by what I said about the adrenal glands. The reason I know that is because my urologist told me about it due to my disease. I run the risk of losing my adrenals eventually and will then have Addison's disease due to it. Then my hormone dose will change immediately because of it. If you have your adrenals you can live without synthetic hormones after an oophorectomy.

I think it can give some pretty bad effect but you also have to consider it diffrent from each person and there health.

In my country we had a crise last year where many transgender where unable to get homones because the goverment had forbid it.
the reason it became legal for those who already been on threatment where that some ftms who had hystonomy and was scared to get health problems who could be very harmfull or even dangerous for there health.

You are not completely without hormones pre-puberty or post-menopause.

Once our bodies are shaped for our needed hormones,it becomes pretty much a must.We are not in a *before puberty stage* and one can not use that example AFTER their body has went through it.As the others stated, after this stage-the body will become weak, sick even. This is why many who go through menapause, get on birth control.it keeps said hormones flowing but also helps with negative side effects of it *hot flashs, pain and so on* i would strongly suggest getting on hormones after a hysto. The body needs something to keep its structure on.

Just want to clarify that I am not saying someone shouldn't stay on synthetic hormones after a hysto (I myself make certain I have mine now). The OP asked if some could (hypothetically speaking) go without hormones after a complete hysto and that answer is yes. Nobody is advising anyone to not take them because there would be eventual consequences and nobody wants to feel like crap all of the time. However, there is a common level of misinformation in the trans community that I have seen. People say it is a must that you have your hormones afterwards or bad things will happen. If by chance after a hysto you find yourself without synthetic hormones for any reason for a period of time you will survive.

Short term, you would be okay. Long term you could have problems. It also depends on what sort of surgery you have. If you have an oophorectomy then you won't have ovaries, which produce sex hormones. Also, post-menopausal people tend to take additional sex hormones to help prevent problems that happen with a lack of sex hormones.

I didnt mean that *bad things would happen* i ment personally,i suggest it strongly.Of course you will survive and it also depends on the needs of the person. And i agree,no body wants to feel like crap all the time and me being one of those.I agree with you fully and as i said, sorry if i wasnt clear on what i stated.the body will break down over time *with or without hormones* but at a slightly higher rate without, but of course that means nothing and some people are very happy without.Other then my strong suggestion,it all depends on the person and their needs.
