I'm in south east michigan. How do i find a therapist for gender issue? Yellow pages? Trans support groups? How did you find your therapist? Where did you find your therapist? Where do you live?

I looked on psychologytoday.com, and searched for therapists that deal with "transgender issues." I contacted a few of them with some questions to make sure they have experience with trans clients, and how long it takes for them to write letters for HRT. Based on responses it's easier to see who is a good fit.

I live in south/central PA.

You can try Googling gender therapist in your area. Check and see if they have a web site and compare them. That's how I found my therapist. If you live near a major city especially one with a large lgbt community you shouldn't have any troubles finding a therapist in your area.  :)

LGBT National suicide hotline, if really struggling, as I was.  They talked with me and then gave me some local names and numbers.
To move forward is to leave behind that which has become dear. It is a call into the wild, into becoming someone currently unknown to us. For most, it is a call too frightening and too challenging to heed. For some, it is a call to be more than we were capable of being, both now and in the future.

I used the BlueShield directory, and filtered for therapists who handled LGBT issues. Then, I called them asking about availability and trans experience.
