Longing for the day when Chelsea Manning and I both seem boring

Manning is eligible for parole in seven years, and I am hoping that by then, someone coming out as trans will seem as dull and mundane as coming out as gay has become in some places. At the very least, I hope that by that time trans people are able to serve openly in the military, something that they cannot do at present in spite of the repeal of "don't ask, don't tell." By 2020, I hope that being trans will be seen not as something scandalous, but instead as one more way of being human. I long for the day that Chelsea and I might even seem relatively boring.

Well, if it's any consolation, I think you're both boring right now. :)

ooooo i'll go get some ice...

I'm just sick of hearing about it all together. Now i'll probably have to listen to people ask my opinion about it when I go back to work like a give a damn  ::)
"For transpeople, using the right pronoun is NOT simply a 'political correctness' issue. It's core to the entire struggle transpeople go through. Using the wrong pronoun means 'I don't recognize you as who you are.' It means 'I think you're confused, delusional, or mentally I'll.'. It means 'you're not important enough for me to acknowledge your struggle.'"

Kia Ora,

The military and some US government officials would like all of us to do just that, forget about Chelsea stuck in a military prison...We plus the media would be doing her a disservice by not keeping (what many see as a grave 'injustice')in the forefront...

Understandably many members here are suffering from what they feel is an 'injustice' ie not being accepted, not being treated with respect etc, etc, but lets just spare a thought for a 'sister in need' ...

Remember "A friend in need is a friend indeed"...
