I've recently heard that in fact the growth you get down below can actually be an undesirable thing as it's often sore and painful. I knew this could be the case but thought it was only while it was growing (a bit like how are breasts/nipples are sore when they growing/developing).

Can anyone who's been on T for a while say whether any discomfort settles down in the long term?

I ride horses and am a little worried as it can be sore in that area from rubbing on the saddle without that as an added concern.

And another question along the same lines, from the same source I've heard that there can be discomfort long term from the vagina atrophying, so becoming dry and the skin becoming sensitive. This was nothing to do with having sex, but more just that it caused discomfort in general.

Again, any ftm's that have been on T long term have anything to say about that? Would be horrible to constantly live in discomfort.

At the moment at least I have no plans for bottom surgery for various reasons.

Personally I never had any discomfort in either area, even after a hysto. Your experience may be different and there are many who experience some discomfort from the little guy growing. It seems to pass after a while. The atrophy you speak of isn't usually a problem unless you have penetration.

I had increased sensitivity which could translate to discomfort. If you're riding horses can you put some extra padding somewhere so there's not as much pressure?

Mmmm I thought about that, but I suspect any extra padding would just put more pressure on the area. I was wondering if a female box (as in what you might use to protect from strikes in that area in martial arts) might cup the area, but I really can't see that working or being comfortable.

I'll guess I'll have to deal with it as best I can if and when it happens.

I ride English (but haven't been on a horse in a while) and close contact saddles definitely give me a sore crotch. That's before I started taking T. General purpose and jumper saddles seem to give me more relief in the crotch. I started using close contact while training and general purpose for fun rides. It worked well for me. If you ride western I think you're just SOL, but there are some thin fleece pads you can get for the seat.

As soon as I started taking t my parts got extra sensitive. Usually it's a good thing, but if I ride a bike... holy crap do I hurt! Also, make sure you're wearing smooth underwear. I keep a pair of women's silk panties specifically for riding my bike because my boxers bunch up and create too much friction.

I used to ride a lot but haven't for a few years. However I think bicycling is a reasonable comparison for your concerns.

I've been on T 4 months and bike 12 miles a day commuting to/from work. Standard bike seat, hard, no frills. Anyways, I haven't had any discomfort whatsoever from growth. To me it's most annoying when I'm running...more of a chafing problem I guess. But contact, as in from a bike seat...fine.

I show jump, so would either ride in a jump saddle or a GP. I don't own my own so don't get a choice on the saddle and think it would be odd to turn up with my own fleece. lol

Yes I find I need to choose the right underwear or it rubs more than usual. I'm actually ok at the mo, but I used to share a horse who's saddle was a nightmare for me. I used to use vaseline and that helped a lot, so maybe it will too if things get sore once on T.

Ah so looks like it really varies from person to person. I'll have to wait and see how I go then.

As for your chaffing have you tried applying vaseline? I find that stuff is a miracle worker

Vaseline sounds like it'd be a horrible mess since the chaffing I get is from my shorts/boxers riding up and bunching instead of the skin rubbing. I've found that once I've stopped shaving my pubes and thigh hair, just keeping it trimmed, I no longer get skin on skin chaffing like I used to. I sure do wish greasing up was the answer Chaffing prevents me from doing lots of hiking, sadly.

What about a change of underwear then, would that help? I'm guessing that's a stupid question as you'll have thought of that if that was the answer.

You can buy an anti chaffing product which comes in a stick and you rub it on. It's not as soft as Vaseline so works slightly differently. I found that helped me when running as the top of my inside thighs would rub, about an inch or two lower than my underwear.
