While I admire the complexity and work that went into it and how it does show the variations of gender, because I see sexuality as defined by gender looking at gender, I don't see how an androgyne can be homosexual, unless attracted to other androgynes.

But that's only my PERSONAL thought on the matter and I realise that most people consider it physical.

That makes me wonder what a heterosexual androgyne would be...  ???

Ack, 63 genders!! I hope we don't need to remember different pronouns for all of them ::) I'm just me.

Chart?
It's sophomoric, inaccurate, unscientific, and the word "Androgyne" has been consistently misspelled throughout.
I give it an B- for effort, and an F for content.

What kind of information are you looking for Ken/Kendra?

-Emerald  :icon_mrgreen:
Androgyne.
I am not Trans-masculine, I am not Trans-feminine.
I am not Bigender, Neutrois or Genderqueer.
I am neither Cisgender nor Transgender.
I am of the 'gender' which existed before the creation of the binary genders.

I do not know.  See, I gave up using hetero/homosexual when I realised I was androgyne.  I use "gynephilic" which means "woman loving" essentially.  The opposite (man loving) is androphilic.  Pansexual and bisexual can refer to being attracted to people outside of the binary, regardless of gender, and loving people within the binary, respectively, regardless of gender of the originator.

It's just that homosexual refers to a man who likes men or a woman who likes women and I am neither man nor woman.

I got lost about half way down and my eyes went funny, il have a 5, 8,21, 30 and a portion of egg fried rice please.
there are far to many genders there and they still have not touched the surface of it, its just some one trying to put us in smaller and smaller boxes. everything can be categorised even those that dont want to be sort of thing

QuoteThat makes me wonder what a heterosexual androgyne would be...

Yes, it really doesn't exist. I long ago gave up labels like gay, straight, etc. I fall in love with a person, whatever gender they are or aren't doesn't much matter. Even labels such as androgyne, that resonate with me and help me to better understand who I am, can ultimately become a box.

I'm just a hetrosexual andgroyne(biological male) thats all I know. I don;t need the chart to list 63 genders to see who I am. I did do my research on different genders before I came to the conclusion of being an andgroyne.

It seemed like a lot of words to me.

Not sure there was a lot of things being said.

I am androgyne because my mind is mostly female, my body is all male and my upbringing is also male - it means that I call my identity androgyne. As for sexuality: I need more before I decide. Today I feel very very girly and very very horny.

I'm the same zythyra; gave up on trying to label my sexual orientation and rather just go with the flow. As for the TG-Androgyne label; I see it as an opportunity/a guidebook to discover more about myself and grasp moments of comfort and happiness.

Also, *wonders how long it took zythyra to type up that post..* ;)

I used to jokingly say that I'd been everything in the GLBT alphabet ;). I have, at various times during my life, identified as gay male, bi, lesbian transwoman, etc... each has been a lesson to learn more about myself, and ultimately, each has also been a box that felt confining.

It usually takes me longer to write my posts than one would think it should. Not because of my typing (2 fingers), but because of constant rethinking and rewriting what I said... we have a saying in our house, if I had more time, I'd write a shorter letter  ;D

It's about the ratings...it's always about the ratings... :-*

What do I think about the chart?  Let's just say I have some problems with it, but it may just be how I interpret things.

1.  In my own mind, I consider a person's physical sex (birth or SRS'd), their gender, and their sexual orientation to be 3 separate things.  Granted, we are complex beings and one facet can influence many others, but generally speaking, whether one considers themselves to be male, female or "other" is not necessarily based on their genitalia or sexual preferences.  OK, maybe it's just me, but those things didn't come in to play when I decided I was androgyne.

2.  OK...let's assume I am physically male (true), but trying to look more androgynous (also true).  Once I "crossed over" the line between looking male and looking more androgynous, my gender would change??  Excuse me, but WTF?

3.  Also, if there are "at least Sixty-Three (63) gender combinations," why does the table only contain hetero-, homo- and bi- for orientation?  What would I be if I were only attracted to bald-headed cross-dressers who only wear a certain shade of nail polish and answer to the name "Lucky" (besides confused, perverse and very lonely)?  That certainly doesn't fit the chart.  And let's not mention the "animal lovers" or pediphiles or other non-big-3 orientations.

There are more, but you get the picture.  I just try to keep it simple at my place...
Sex (please):  your equipment is either male, female, some of both, or none
Orientation:  You either like masculine, feminine, both, or neither  (notice, I did not say men or women)
Gender:  You consider yourself male, female or somewhere in between (and there's an entire universe "in between")

This keeps things simple in my mind, yet allows for anyone to fit almost comfortably in their cubby-hole.

I have only seen limited amount of orientation change (or more of discovery and realization) from gender identity reported by others.

Although, what I rarely see mentioned is that your gender identity does matter to your partner's orientation. A person's relationship concerning gender identity can directly be affected by one's partner's orientation. Also from a partner's perspective, your own orientation is one facter in determining how you will look upon them.

So this writer might be writing the 3 traits from the perspective of an onlooker judging a potential mate. Do they have the right plumbing, right gender, and do they have the potential to want what I am? So from an egocentric perspective they dont correlate. From an altruistic perspective, I think they do. Along with other important desired things in a mate, such as attraction, comfort level, interests, trust, love, and sexual chemistry, etc.

QuoteIt's about the ratings...it's always about the ratings...

You bet I watch the ratings. One might be surprised to know we have 10.5 androgynes per month average since March to June of this year; and 4 active writers per month from those new members. Where as from Aug06 to Feb of this year we had a 2.14 androgynes per month average; with only 1 active writer per month.  Prior to Aug 2006 we had 1 new member per like 3 months, and only very few of those are active writers.

Wow!  I felt like this section was growing, but averaging 10.5 new members who are androgyne per month...Fan-Fricking-Tastic!!!

Thanks K for all your hard work in making this section what it has become.

I agree with you that a person's gender identity is important when deciding on a mate.  My question is that how much of that falls under "sexual orientation" and how much falls under "compatibility"?  If you see someone walking down the street and are attracted to them (regardless of their gender), that, to me, is strictly orientation.  If you then meet them and find their gender identity is not what you want/need in a mate, then compatibility kicks in and the person becomes "less attractive".

If you consider orientation to be who attracts you as a mate vs. who you would like to "shag", then the requirements drastically change.  I may be in deep lust for that cute Hollywood starlet, but that doesn't mean I would want to live with her for the next 20 years.  Maybe I need to update my internal definition of orientation, but, so far, I've not been convinced.

And I forgot to comment on this earlier:

I love it!  It does take longer to write a concise and straightforward statement, which explains why so many of mine are so dang long.

That's wonderful! And we're still recruiting more androgynes. Today Susan's, tomorrow, the world!! ;D

I think I joined up in Sept 06 or so. It's been great getting to know everyone here! I want to invite everyone over for a fabulous androgyne party.

An Androgyne party...hmmm.  OK, those who are strictly cake or strictly ice cream may attend, but you cannot participate in any activities.  Same for you only rum or only coke.  Some things are just better when they are mixed.

I'm up for a party...

I feel that gender identity is affected by physical sex. Because identity comes largely from memories and those memories are anchored to your physical body and physical sex. I don't think I can accept the idea that they are completely seperate because nothing ever is.

I dont know, but I know a person, when I was younger, can go from being a great possibility, to being a "wait a minute, somethings unusual".

Whats that quote? Give a person a fish, then have them to make a 6 course meal, with themes, settings, and mood environment. Teach that person to fish, then get the fishing buddies, beer, sports talk, and bs.
