Transgender German man becomes first in Europe to have a baby

A transgender man is the first in Europe to give birth to a baby after becoming pregnant through a sperm donor.

The unidentified man, who was born a woman, delivered the baby boy at home with a midwife in the poor Neukoellin district of Berlin.

He insisted on a home birth because he refused to be listed as the mother on any hospital documents - a legal requirement of in Germany.

The father, who maintained the reproductive organs of a woman, has been taking hormone replacement therapies for years to switch sexes.

Details about the sperm donor or any relationship information has been withheld from the public as the father wanted to protect his son from any attention.

I don't understand why a trans man would intentionally go out of his way to get pregnant when he identifies as a man.

Because they can my dear. Don't you doubt for one second that there wouldn't be a handful of completely male-identifying cismen in all existence who would take the effort to get pregnant if it was at all possible. Anything that can happen if given enough time, will, or has.

Anyways, I hate when articles like these are written. Why can't these people just be pregnant without turning it into a media story? -.-"

Amelia, the reason he gave was very straight-forward. He wanted a child and the other options were not viable for him for a whole list of reasons. I don't think most people realize, for instance, how expensive it is to adopt a child, not to mention all the barriers in the way for someone who is LGBT and/or single and not necessarily the "perfect" candidate, how long the waiting lists are, etc.

And I can validate Road's statement. If it were an option for me, it would not be off the table for consideration, though I'd be a lot more receptive if I were in a stable, seemingly long-term relationship with someone else who also wants a child first.

I still don't get it and probably never will. I know if the option was ever available to me, either as a "man" or as a woman, I wouldn't take it.

So, definitely YMMV.

Heres the thing some of us who are intersexed could if it were possible would loved to have been able to have & give birth to our own child you see because some of us cant we for a few are nether male or female in the true sense of how you and other's see this,  im female regardless of my detail yet can not have children women who are women = female know what it does to us who cant,  most people have no idear of what its like, no understanding most males dont get it,

Makes little difference wether he / she trans or not its all wraped up in ones body whats there, dare i say it we are after all . all different , understanding those of us who are is what its about, or as i know some dont wont to know . so how do we show others that difference is not as cut and dryed as some wont to think.

As an idear, how many trans people accept intersexed people very few, why, ill let you answer that, or any one else, of 6.219 active members of a trans forum i asked a ?  that i thought would have a good few answer in how do they feel about intersexed people such as myself in how they see us interact with myself,   okay well one had the guts to answer yet never said a thing how he felt about myself,

So you see from that i found it very disapointing to say the least  in other words they would not answer yet many have known about myself for over 6 years,

And my time with others on other forums is except for 4 other trans forums is much the same, you see we have been marked as different yet i have taken the time  to understand dresser's and Trans people many many 1000's of to try & help some as i have , yet most do not wont to know any thing about us.

Im a female & like the person concerned whos had or just had a lovely wee child you may just get an idear of where we are coming from. being intersexed does not mean we all come with what we need in being able to have >>>>>.....OUR OWN CHILD.....<<<<< words mean damm all our bodys screem out what we need,  a womb.

I have been following his blog for years and I have always looked up to him in particular. I never followed his baby blog though so I was wondering if the baby was still going to be born. So cute!
