I'm not posting here to let off angry steam, but I'm unsure of what my next steps are here. I mentioned over in my blog that there's a tear in the labrum of my hip, with a possible labral tear in my right shoulder as well. My left hip has a combined FAI, and my right hip has a cam impingement but not a pincer impingement like on the left side. When I go in to the doctor on Monday, they will administer a combination of lidocane and cortisone into the hip joint via syringe. Should the pain diminish enough that there is a noticeable improvement in my quality of life, I will undergo surgery to have the tear(s) repaired, as well as having the femur shaved to reduce the risk of another tear. Unfortunately, my hip socket cannot be fixed and will remain at the odd angle it is tilted at.
There is the possibility of the labrum of my right shoulder being torn in addition to the hip problems. The joint exhibits multi-directional instability, however, giving any surgery a much lower success rate because the shoulder may be re-injured as soon as I pull my arm over my head, an action that without fail subluxates the humerus. The same can happen with my hipbone, though we hope not.
Several doctors are near positive that I have a type of EDS, which would explain the laxity in my joints. If so, considering the age at which I am experiencing the onset of major issues doesn't give a nice prognosis. In addition, my concern is that a certain diagnosis from a doctor will sent a red flag up to the insurance company, who may refuse to authorize my hip surgery if they see that in my file and deem it not worth the effort and money of trying to repair.
I don't like to talk about the things that ail me because others have it so much worse, but typing it out is acting as a form of distraction for the pain. Currently, it is making me feel nauseated and dizzy, and I am unsure of where all of this leads me. So far, however, the path isn't looking good.
