The term androgynous has always made me wonder. It is understood to mean dressed in clothes that are neither definitely male, nor definitely female or more generally something that can be identified as belonging to both genders But aside from a dress or maybe a skirt, what is definitely female? Let's forget about bathing suits. I guess a business suit, with pants and a tie, could be easily identified as male centered, but don't women sometimes wear suits with pants and even a tie? During the summer I always wear shorts and a tee or polo shirt and sandals, as do a lot of women. Aren't we all dressed androgyneously? What about jeans and a sweater? Most of the shirts I wear are women's and button right over left and so far no one has ever questioned me on it and should they I am prepared to say "I hadn't noticed". On the outside we all look pretty much the same so aside from those in dresses and business suits a lot of us dress androgynously conscious or not.
