I dilated a few hours ago, I went through my pelvic muscle with a small dilator. I think I went too far in, although I might not had done.

However I was bleeding, not heavy but I had some in my urethra area.

Is this normal?

I had blood on my dilators often during the first month of dilation if i recall correctly, sometimes drops of blood as I walked to the bathroom after... nothing more but that was enough to always freak me out. There can be spots of slower healing (granulation tissue, etc) that can lead to bleeding a little here and there for months. Who was your surgeon? If it was dr suporn at least (mine, but I'm sure most docs will help you out like this) write an email and attach a camera-phone pic. Kinda gross to be sending photos of your vag on your phone like that, but hey, if you're distant, that's what you have to do. Good luck!

Nessa, if you are very worried, you should contact the office of your surgeon when they are next open.  I'm sure you will be okay.

It's not out of the norm, most doc's mine included said bleeding after can continue for quite a lil while (up to 4-6 weeks) I only bled for about a week and some spotting bout a week after but not very much at all, which was very surprising as another girl there left and her bleeding had not yet quit, the biggest concern is when you bleeding profusely ,such as changing your pad every 2 hours which can indicate a hemorrhage, but if you have concerns contact your dr/and or an emergency facility.

What they said; if it's heavy just head over to the emergency department (like I had to after surgery). Urethral bleeding is the most common source of bleeding requiring medical intervention.

That said, there will be some blood during the first month recovery and maybe more depending on your healing or lack of it and dilation technique.  It doesn't sound like the surgeon gave you very good dilation instruction though since the PC (pubococcygeus) muscle always has to be poked through to perform vajayjay maintenance. If you've poked through to the abdominal cavity that's a VERY BAD THING (and very bad showing on the surgeon's part). If in doubt have a gyno or the surgeon do a checkup.

Thanks for your reply, I've attached a photo and I've an appointment 7th October. My surgeon was James Bellringer in London
